Slayer Setups

Are the setups I have currently for slaying good? Could they be improved?

They are as follows:

Melee:

Black Mask

Legends Cape

Amulet of Glory

Rune Plate

Rune Legs

Leaf-bladed Sword

Rune Kite

Rune Boots

Combat Brace

Explorer's Ring 3

Ranged:

Archer's Helm

Ava's Accumulator

Amulet of Glory

Blue Dhide Body

Blue Dhide Legs

MSB with Steel Arrows/Iron Darts

Nothing/Book of Balance

Snakeskin Boots

Combat Brace

Explorer's Ring 3

I also use Super Attacks and Super Strengths with Melee.

Also, my Attack, Strength and Defence are below 60 atm (hence I'm not using any dragon items) - what should I use once I hit 60?

Thanks very much :)

Get a ddp++ for sure, and also a dragon long (have to do a quest to get it). Get the D scimitar instead of the Dlong if you can but it requires Monkey Madness I believe.

Also at 60 def, you want to get Dragon Boots (best boots in game I think). Not too sure about Def, cause my def. is also below 60 (altho atk and str. are above).

Melee:

Helmet:Save your points for a Slayer Helmet. They help a lot.

Cape: Go grab an Obsidian Cape. It has +2 More Defense in all stats compared to the Legends. It's onyl like 150k I think too. That's good until you get a Skillcape or Firecape.

Amulet:Glory's okay. Although you should get a Fury when it's more in your price range.

Chestplate:Rune's fine until 70 Defense. Don't get Dragon at 60, it's useless. At 70, get some Barrows Armour.

Platelegs: Same as above.

Weapon:Get 60 Attack as fast as possible. After that, get a Dragon Scimitar. Nifty little thing.

Shield: Rune Defender;No exception there.

Gloves: RFD should be a priority to get some Barrows Gloves eventually.

Ring:Berserker is good. But, again, might not be in your price range.

Ranged:

Helmet: A God Coif has +1 more range attack over the Archer Helmet. The Guthix one is pretty cheap too.

Cape:Good.

Amulet:Glory until you have the money for a fury.

Chest/Legs:Fine, just upgrade when you can wear new D'Hide, but you already know that.

Weapon:Upgrade to atleast Mithril Arrows, don't use darts, and switch to a Rune Crossbow with Mith/Broad Bolts at 61 Range.

Shield:Use an Unholy Book at 61 Range with the Rune Crossbow. It has +4 more Range Attack over the Balance.

Glove:I think Vambraces give more Range Attack.

Ring:Archer's is always useful. But a luxury, get if you have the money.

And remember to use Range Potions while ranging too.

That's another thing; I can't do Smoking Kills or Dream Mentor yet, as I haven't got 85 Combat :wall: (but that'll come eventually, obviously).

Should I still with Vannaka, or move on to Chaeldar? And which familiar should I use (55 atm)?

Thanks for all the answers, and sorry for the continuous questions

Wow, thanks.

I have all the stats for RFD, so I'll do that soon. How much are the pages for Unholy books?

Also, is it worth buying a cannon?

You're lucky you've got the stats so early in the game :P I didn't get Barrows gloves till level 129 because I hate skilling xD.

I just checked and all the pages for the Unholy Book come in at about 1.5m for all four. Well worth it though. I rate it as a higher priority than an Archer's Ring, but less of a priority than a Fury Amulet. So get a Fury, then an Unholy Book, then an Archer's Ring as metaphorical "icing".

Cannon's are iffy. I personally use one as much as I can because they speed up slayer A LOT, but then again, I have enough cash to spare. I wouldn't reccomend a cannon until you atleast have what I reccomended. It's very useful. But not as needed.

The Unholy Book is worth the money used. No question. It is the BEST of any Range shield. The best of anything is worth a lot more than the 1.5m it is. I reccomend it completely.

Yeah Chaeldar is great, a lot better than Vannaka, and more exp per task. Use her as soon as you can. And just use the highest combat familiar you can in according to what stat you want to train.

and no problem with the questions. Always happy to help out a fellow Slayer.

Stick with Vannaka until 85, then move to Chaeldar.

I'd like to see your reasoning behind this, because I used Chaeldar as soon as I hit level 70, and had absolutley no problem whatsoever. Not to mention, I wasn't as rich as the thread starter is at that level.

I would say to use Vannaka until you feel like you're ready for Chaeldar. I think you should use Vannaka for now though.

For familiars, the only useful ones would be BoBs to carry more food or a void spinnner for now, just save your charms until you get 68 summoning.

I would follow Robin's setup although I would just keep the legends cape since obby cape wasn't really worth it for +2 more defense.

And yeah, I don't think you really need a cannon right now since it'll get rather expensive.

I slightly disagree as I think a combat familiar at any level is quite useful for speeding up tasks. It's all up to you though, as they require a degree of attention to have to keep clicking the "Call" button.

As for the obby cape, I still reccomend it as it is the best available at his level. And the best is always worth the money. ;)

It means anything that can fight. Doesn't really matter but generally speaking, Green Charm Summons aren't very good fighters. Everything else is fine. Just use the highest available to you. ;)

Well for one, you can't get a Rune Defender yet. Since both attack and strength are below 60, means you can't get into the Warriors guild as you need a combined of 130 to get in. So until then continue to use a Rune Shield or buy an Obby Shield.
