September 23, 200520 yr Last night i found a trojan horse on my computer it contained severn files and i dont know what gto do.. Ive qaurentined it so but im not sure that will help can anyone give me any advice.
September 23, 200520 yr do you know how this virus came about? were you downloading programs from sites like limewire or kazaa? most of the people that I have met on the net have got trojans from downloading junk from sites. 1. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ ~ this site is a good free online scan that will help you get rid of those nasty viruses. alot of viruses can be stopped (if you dl alot of junk) by simply deleting your tempory internet files. also go to tools in your menu and select internet options > delete cookies > delete files check the delete all off line files (for xp users) clear history and hit ok. I also like to use ad-aware since viruses seem to creep up in the most particular places. which I found that program at http://www.majorgeeks.com which is a good site that has pretty much anything that can keep your computer happy. If you have norton anti virus... seems that norton can delete and/or quarntien the virus but for some reason it still leaves that nasty lil hash mark in the registry which nortons web site will tell you how to remove the left overs. I would like to know what trojan it is. I'm an IT student and I get my kicks helping other people out on their stuff.
September 23, 200520 yr Sticky: FAQ - Index (Check here BEFORE posting a new Topic!!!) Scan with your anti virus again in safemode just to be safe. Then scan Ad-aware and with Spybot S&D. after you have cleared up any spyware nasties post a HijackThis log and give as many details about the trojan that has been detected as possible. September 23, 200520 yr think of a trojan horse like a family tree where there's 1 there's 2 then 4 then ... then you need a new hard drive because its done been fried. leaves more access to worms, bombs and a bunch of stuff that you don't want. my friend did that once. He left a trojan and then his hard drive crashed and we got it up and running scanned it and found over 140 trojans 10 worms and right after I saw him throw that hard drive into the trash.

Chances are you can get rid of it by using these programs, but if you don't you still have good protection progs. And you still haven't provided any information. Have you been using any filesharing programs like mentioned?

Throw it away instead of formatting it and reinstalling the os?
