Farming- another question

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty sure I've posted a farming question on here before, but I have a few new ones now. I have been making 4 kwuarms, 1 snapdragon at trollhiem, 5 palm trees, 5 maple trees, and 4 marigolds.

My questions are: Should I start farming something in the allotments for some extra xp in herb runs and should I start farming poison ivy? I know watermelons are a waste of money for the amount of xp that they give, but should I plant something like sweetcorn? And should I switch to white lillies(or whatever they're called) if I start planting in my allotments?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Only do them if you want. Most don't bother with the allotments as the exp from them is small. Poison ivy would be ok as you don't have to watch it as it can't get diseased or poisoned. Also calquats are nice exp and a small profit. What you're doing now is fine, and its what most people just do when getting farming exp.

Hmm very true but I kind of want to be getting max xp per trip that I can without spending a ton of cash on magic or yew trees, because I have school right now. Sorry that I forgot to mention that in the first post.

Hmm if I could really break even that would be awesome because I runecraft in between herb runs anyway, so I am making some money while I farm. I think i'll try that for a few days and see if I like it.

Thanks

Like i said, plant if you want. But the time it takes for some crops to grow might be different from the herbs so you might be making more then one run ever x-amount of hours. You can also do strawberries and use those as food for if you need it.

Yews/palms/snaps/calquats is the method most people follow for fast xp and and you can usually break even.

If all you want is money, just do snaps.

This. If you want fast exp and lose little cash/break even, then do this. Also because you runecraft in between herb runs you'll make a profit anyway (considering the amount of cash you'll make per hour ;))

Do farm poison ivies.

Do not farm allotments.

Do not farm maples, yews are cheaper.

Calquats once a day, just run south from the brimhaven fruit tree patch.

Also, since planting calquats requires 8 poison ivies as payment, I recommend you plant ivy patches.

You only need to plant 2 of them, and here's the two i plant:

Champions guild, use combat necklace teleport, and Rimmington patch, using skills necklace teleport.

If you use spirit trees, and have one on ecteria, then you can use duel ring to MA, spirit tree to ecteria, then spirit tree to khazard battlefield and rune southeast to the ardy bush patch.

But of course you can do all four patches if you want.

Economically speaking, it's not a good idea to pay for calquats. 1 payment is 8k, whereas only 1 in 10 calquats die. You'd save more money by not paying for the calquats.

But you plant the poison ivy yourself, and get 100% exp instead of 90%, so i'd say its worth it. I thought it was a death rate of 1/8? Anyways, poison ivy seeds are relatively cheap, and you can even leave the bushes and not plant new ones.

Doesn't make a difference. Just because you planted the thing yourself, doesn't mean it's free. You could've sold the berries for money, so you're still paying for the payment.

Calquats are 40k each and each payment is 8k each. Death rate is 1/10 (1/8 would make it worse anyway). If you paid for your trees, you'd be paying 80k to save 1 seed over the course of 10 seeds. If you didn't pay, you'd just lose 40k over the course of 10 seeds. That means you are paying 80k for 1 Calquat tree. That means you are paying double for the same seed.

This is pretty subjective though. I myself prefer to pay for the seeds, since I would gladly pay that extra 40k to save 1 day of farming. However, economically speaking, paying for the calquats is a bad idea.

I thought the death rate of 1/10 was because of the disease free patch for herbs, not sure though. But yea, I pay for calquats the exact same reason you do ::'
