With or without a cannon, best bloodvelds location are the Mutated Velds. There is a safespot on the north side and south side of the room between crates. These are much better than regular velds (some of which are to the room to the west of the mutated velds room. Those are worse xp and there are only 3, although safespots exist there too) and give better xp.

In addition you could cannon like most people do on slayer tasks, although you would need to pray melee when you reload the cannon since the mutated velds hit pretty hard and accurately/

If you haven't done the quest, another place to range them with safespots is in the GWD. You can stand in the top (two?) spaces of the bridge to range them. You can also range them over top of various snow piles and rocks. Just be sure to wear a Zamorak item.

Yeah, GWD is a great place. The safe spots don't really matter - just wait until they are fighting something else and range away.

They are near the Blood Altar and need the Legacy or Seergaze quest to gain access to them, as well as all the quests to do that one. The Mutate Velds are 126 and 138 combat. They are much stronger but they also have decent drops. You can cannon but unless on a task it might be a waste, unless you have the money.

I agree about the location but for melee slayer mutated have a higher def than regular bloodvelds so if you want pure speed of xp, they seem faster to me. The room through the mutated is the quietest place to find normal bloodvelds - almost no competition at all and lots more to slay than in the tower.

Slayer tower probably your best bet then.

I notice no difference of defense between normal and mutated velds. They honestly have next to no defense, so hitting them should not be a problem.

Since you haven't done the quest, you should hop to the Tower. However, it is extremely crowded there. I would recommend going to GWD and if that doesn't work, maybe even cancel the task. If I had to use the Tower for veld tasks, I would cancel them. Way too crowded. Honestly speaking it's worse at velds than it is at abyssals.
