LordChocobot
I wish people would stop bashing Halo and Halo fans. I got hooked on it when it first came out because it was a great game to me and a lot of fun. I think just like how there are people who are "force fed" mainstream games, there are those who automatically hate mainstream things just because they wish to appear above the average populace, even if they might really like the game if they gave it a chance. You took the words right out of my damn mouth. Let's make babies!

How2PK
Both fans are mostly geeks that spend their time on the net playing computer games. I wouldn't worry too much about that. :PActually, that's not true at all.. There aren't really many fans of Jackson who are as diehard as Halo fans, and Halo is one of the largest "Jock games", at least here in the U.S., which means that most of the diehard fans are jocks/idiots. Most true gamers don't like Halo much.. I wasn't talking about Peter Jackson, I was talking about the Lord of the Rings Culture. But what I meant to say was that you should have a good mix of each, as you will see that unpopular games (movies, music etc. etc.) are just as good (and often far superior) to mainstream. And if you'd look beyond games of the mainstream. (see Grim Fandango, if you've played it, or even heard of it.........) for some creative and original storytelling. Or if you want some other super-human soldier fighting aliens to save the human race, like Halo...(how original...) you might as well get System Shock 2 that has a far superior story and is told in a more effective way. I like some things in the mainstream (GTA series are extremely brilliant, as they can bring together both harcore gamers [with its good story and amazing writing and it's original style] and first timers)
How2PK
Grim Fandango isn't exactly unknown. :P Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
misterxman
Tried games like CS, BF, HL, Tom Clancy games, didn't enjoy them much. Halo is just more fun to me. :) Should be interesting to see how the movie goes, although there's few movies based on games that are good. Mr_Putter
Grim Fandango isn't exactly unknown. :P Compared to Halo it so is...I wonder what percentage of people who play Halo and claim to be "gamers" have played it fully.

I like some things in the mainstream (GTA series are extremely brilliant, as they can bring together both harcore gamers [with its good story and amazing writing and it's original style] and first timers) Oh yeah, I definetly agree with diversity, I play many unknown and unliked games; Mafia-bad graphics but a great story, and Pirates of the Carribean-great game except for the ending where Disney obviously stepped in and tried to change the whole story, are some example off the top of my head.I'm still going to have to disagree with you on Halo though. Sure the whole "super soldier defending earth thing" has been done before, but the twist about the aliens theocracy with prophets as religious and military leaders is what I think seperates it from all the other alien shoot em-ups. I think it would be best to agree to disagree on that one, besides being way off topic, everyone has been through enough Halo/anti-Halo arguments already. back on topic: I hope the Halo movie is good, if I hear bad things though, I doubt I'll watch it. It could probably be a half-decent movie if they just stick with the story and not try to make it look like a video game *cough*cough* Doom *cough*. Doom is going to be a great movie, because they chose not to alienate fans of the game, and it's rated R so it's going to be very good to source material. I can see how it may turn off some but I think it will be pretty cool. Besides, only parts of the movie are like that. Plus it has The Rock+Karl Urban. That's all I have to say. P.S. Max Payne is going to be the greatest movie of all time - if they do it right.
