Is this a good computer?

Featured Replies

Is this a good computer? I'm looking for one in that $600-$800 range and this seems good. I'm not looking for a mac/apple product. I will wait until after 10/22 so I can get Windows 7. Ignore the numbers, it's just the serial numbers. I'd just like comments ont he part and stating if they are worth it and if they will work properly. I need to know if these parts will let me run Youtube, Forums, Runescape and Hulu with good speed, however I will mainly be using it for editing and recording videos. Will it be good for this? Also, will I be able to play games such as Left 4 Dead and Mirrors Edge? Basically, I'm asking if this computer will be sufficient enough to support everything I want to do, and at a decent speed. Thanks.

PS: Where is the hide tag? Can't find anything on this blast new forum =P

Dont get McAfee (if you are required to pay extra for it) there are better, free alternatives.

Just don't get McAfee at all. It's one of the worst antiviruses out there, it's even [bleep]ing up my teachers and fellow students that loaned their laptops at college. (freezing laptops and crashes the laptop alltogether when right clicked on).

It'll run that fine. You might be able to get a better deal, but I'm not sure. It'll run all that fine.

The McAfee is $50 extra. What are some really good free alternatives?

Also, all of this stuff comes for $720 without taxes+shipping. Is that a good price?

Is portability important. If it isn't you could probably get a heavier laptop with a larger screen for a better or equivalent price.

It isn't really. It'll basically always be in my house somewhere, usually in the same place.

Currently, the best free antivirus is Avira antivir.

From the little research I've done, and with my experience with antiviruses, AVG has fallen 2 years ago and is one of the worst currently. Avast, is still good, but has [cabbage]loads of false-positives.
