I just reccomended the most obvious course of action, the golden rule: Restart. If that doesn't work, try getting newest iTunes.
October 7, 200916 yr What type of OS do you have? Older versions of Windows and Linux will not work with most newer iPods.

October 8, 200916 yr What's your Operating System, and are you connecting it straight to the USB Port? Not to a hub then to the USB Port.Also, try a different port, it could possibly be that that port is broken. (Eh, could happen) Also, try resetting your iPod. Hold Centre and Menu at the same time. My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
