Catching rides around villages

Ok heres an idea, what about being able to ride from village to village? beeing able to catch a unicorn or bear, or a bird that the gnomes ride near the agility area (can't remember the name). You have to persuade the animal to give you a lift maybe with grain or nuts or fruit, to get you from place to place, but it will only last for a certain lengh of time, before having to starting and catch one again. It will need agility so maybe a reasonably high level to be able to do it....

Well thats it, i hope that you will enjoy the idea and maybe in time we may see something like it in the game.

So, basically, it would be the same as running but without losing energy?

I think I like it...but maybe if you could explain the technical aspects of your idea a bit more (Like HOW long you can do it for, how you get these animal feeds, and what agility levels you need) I think I'd like it a lot more.

but defeats the purpose of low level players to do quest.. if not quest doing will be sooo easy.. remember this quest about the rune mystery (something close) f2p quest.. u have to travel from draynor to varrock to and fro.. @ least 2 times.. well.. tat will defeat that ultimately..

but they will have to have a high agility to be able to do this, so they would have had to work at it to get the levels so not so easy me thinks

The animals will still run out of energy, but it will get you somewhere faster than running, the animal will go as far and as fast depends on what it is fed, whether it be grain or fruit, or other foods, each will have an energy levels to take it a little way or a longer distance.

How about you also need a quest to be able to use this sort of transport...

Could be anything, and as the reward you can use the stables to get from say Ardougne to Yanille, Lumbridge and Draynor, or even Edgeville to Falador (and back ofc)...

If its implemented between places where you can normally walk without much peril (so NOT over whitewolf mountain, theres a quest for that already) and not between places too far apart where an obvious stop could be made in between (so not between Port Sarim and Edgeville)...

Then it would be well worth exploring...

Lets add highway men, these would instantly leap aboard you horse/cow/carriage and kick you off, it would then depend what type of animal you have and how long you trained it and how much food you fed it, if you have it in top shape then you see an animation with the animal booting the highwayman, or a carriage that jerks the guy off. However if you have been messing about or generally kill the animal afterwards, then it accepts its new owner and rides off into the sunset(with a cool animation with you running after it). You do still reach your destination but you have to pay a fine for lossing the animal and you have lost all but 5% energy and 5hp.

As for a quest....hmmm

What about you get stopped by a new random event 'The salesman' He gives you a free carriage and a new emote 'flag down' you then have to pay him 2k for a new horse(or you can hikjack another animal, but it won't like you as much), you are then able to ride about for a few hours of use(like barrows) then you have to pay the guy some more money to keep the horse(if you nicked an animal nothing happens), if you lose the horse(other animals just get a new one of somewhere) you have to pay a 10k fine and the price of a horse goes to 2.5k(and increases continuley up to 10k).

To look after the animal you can do a few things to feed it(veggy):

Let eat from the landscape(stick it in a field and leave it there) costs nothing but will have to stay there for about an hour.

Feed it grain, fruit or veg(or consentrated animal feed) 2 feeds every 5 hours and is quite cheap

Give it energy restore potions 1 dose every 10 minutes, costs alot and needs to be fed alot, only really any use on wilderness trek with the food needed for you

Or for something like a wolf(carny)

Let eat from the landscape(stick it in a field(with sheep) and leave it there) costs nothing but will have to stay there for about an hour. and you may get caught or the animal might get killed by the farmer.

Feed it meat and fish (or consentrated animal feed) 2 feeds every 5 hours and is quite cheap

Give it your blood, drains your hp down 10 but from then on you won't need to feed it.

To look after it you can do 3 things:

Leave it in a herd of the same animal for a while(need a dye to know whos who)

Give it to a stable(costs 1k an hour)

Do activitys with it, such as eat some grass or kill that sheep(is the fasest costs nothing but you have to do stuff)

Other stuff:

Needs to be washed at regular intervals

Needs to be cared for(not trained on)

Need to own a house for it to stay in(can be told to run home)

May need other items(got from the salesman, flag him down) such as animal cure, blanket, shed, food trough, vaccine. and others. these are to keep the animal heathly. Although the animal may not love it instantly, it will help later.(some items need to be rebought after you lose it.

If you have a carny it may turn feral and attack you, what you need to do if this happens it to force it to sleep, the LOOK after it better. If you have a carny it may also help you when you are fighting something ie. a highwayman.

This would most likely be placed after houses and introduce a new skill 'Riding' that would be a bit difficult to train as you only got xp from catching it and then riding an animal, getting xp every 10 minutes (There are 10 lvls of the animal, feral to loving) the animals happyness lvl is mutiplyed by 10 and that xp is added. The prospect of get many animals is turned off because the maxium is 2 on you are riding and the one in a stable, if you bring them togther they fight for dominates and one normally dies. If its male and female of the same species and they both love you (lvl 10 happyness) then there is a SMALL chance that they will like each other and then produce offspring. If this happens then you can sell the offspring to a local farmer and then as long as you see them often the animals will stay happy(and you get payed for the animal you gave to the farmer). If you don't give it away then you can raise it then start some sort of farm, but this would cost you alot and if you started training on them you would lose weeks of work. You can still slaughter them though(as long as it is feral(lvl 1 happyness) on its own and does not have kids.

And that what i have to say.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

No offense, but don't like it. There are already plenty of ways to get around, I feel.

No offence taken some people are affraid of something new

Lol, I'm not afraid of new things :) As I said, there are plenty of modes of transport in RS, but I also found the idea a little odd: coaxing animals with food to bring you places. Yes, I know you can travel by Spirit Tree in RS, but I don't think animal travel is on the way.

By the way, the idea seems strangely similar to (gulp) people riding horses. I shudder even to bring that up. Forgive me :)

Yes that is why I said it would come after houses at least maybe in the next year, plus I think I said it would be mostly animation, the rest of the time its just plain looking after your animal.

And why is it odd most of the idea were used by us at one point

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.
