Hegemony Argument Thread

Tis true Ross, everything was controlled by the brain.

Can't say that really makes a whole lot of difference....one big brain to replace lots of little ones.

If we could go back, it would have been stressful to play, but entertaining to watch.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

A pacistical pixal could have beat your hoard...provided the person controlling it was willing to spend 6 weeks incessantly arguing about how it would own your hoard with it's pacistical pixal

Obvs could beat his army, its a tiny freakin dot, like hell he could hit it.

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time?

You were the moderator.

Sorry, but weren't you a primary example of somebody ignoring the moderator to do what they thought was fair?

I mean, we all did it at one point or another, but you were generally the one I remember.

I know its a double post but I think this deserves a double post.

Now, I think this could be a good system for the next hegemony, it may mean a bit more work for the moderator but atleast the figures aren't random.

So there are two countries team A and team B.

Team A's soldiers

[hide]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/44/Army.mil-2006-10-04-091542.jpgArmy.mil-2006-10-04-091542.jpg

Notes: Has body armour and a rifle. [/hide]

Team B's soldier

[hide]320px-Legion.png

Notes: Hal suit with full body armour, got a vapouriser gun[/hide]

Now its obvious that the more powerful soldier is B so after some discussion in hegemony about which one will win it turns out that the ratio will be:

1:10

A:B

So for every kill A makes, B kills 10

Then you work out the deaths.

B's army is 1000, a's army is 10,001.

Using the ratio to find out how many B would kill it turns out that one of A's soldiers survive.

Also it works if the ratio is 1:1 (a bit unlikely)

It even acounts for adding tanks and such, you just add them to the gross deaths.

The mod can add or change it a bit due to terrain and such.

This is why I was made Hegemony War Moderator....I had these cutting edge ideas almost a year ago...

You, after having seen the idea in practice for at least six months, have just 'originated' it.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

What about a hero chance XD? The losing side has a 5% chance of getting a soldier who kills X(roll a dice) : 1

A 1% chance that the entire army is pepped up and they get the better KTD ratio :P

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

Icu, killing people doesn't make you a hero

But yeh that would be cool and the pepped up army chance could be done by how well you treat them which brings me onto my next idea which I might post sometime in the near future.

Archi, you already do that.

I thought you just made it up off the top of your head, it looks like it.

No, I work out roughly what should happen, using a ratio, then I add flavour, because the ratio approach means that throwing troops around wins wars....Like throwing money around wins research...like throwing population around gives massive armies...like throwing large numbers around makes science work.

I have said it before, and I will say it again, Hegemony is based on arbitration, not on complicated systems that include every eventuality...we tried that, it didn't work...now we try this, see if it works, if it does then good, if not then we try something else.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

You've also said that Hegemony was too complicated to be casual gameplay, that systems needed to be in place to include every eventuality and use that research system.

Edit: and that ship combat thing.

Yup, then we created Empire, and it turned out that comprehensive systems fail because people interpret things differently. So, the best plan so far is to have a comprehensive system which is controlled by the moderator, and no one else.

The most comprehensive system is arbitration, and it benefits from not being caught up in complicated knots down the line, since the rules can change to straighten things out.

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.
