Tortoise killing for xp?

So I had a littel discussion last night.

A friend of my was totally into killing tortoises at the Khazard Battlefield (level 92). He said it's good xp, and the drops can be good if you get your hands on the tortoise shields wich are 11.8K nowadays.

A disagreed, that tortoise killing is a xp booster, although they have 120 hp, and only hit because of the level 5 mage on his back.

Now I started to think: well, easy killing, no food used (because of the gnome cuisine drops) and earn some money. Why am I diasgreeing?

So, is it worth it killing them for the xp? I'm not sure, I still disagree, is there someone who has experience with it?

"We had gay burglars the other night. They broke in and rearranged the furniture."

Well , I have little experience on them, but that doesn't change much.

But there is a different kind of tortoise which I do have experience on.

These warped suckers tend to be a nice way to mix cash / experience. They are best at neither, not the best money, not the best experience and some people tend to find them anoying to kill. Tough they are worth it. I remember someone having writen some guide on them, but it wasn't much special. In the sewers (easily reachable by spirit tree after the quest), the first room has a few turtles. Bring some easy food and you can pick up most of what they drop. Bring a BoB to carry extra. Teleport to edgeville when you are filled. From there, get back to the spirit tree for a new trip.

Edgeville > GE, because GE doesn't allow familiars. You can reach the spirit tree with a familiar tough

If I was on a slayer task for them I would bring a ring of duelling and telly to the Mobilising Army place. It's close to a bank as well as a tree.

This is what I do. Its quick banking.

It's not the best xp around but It's easy xp and there's always the chance of getting a shield drop.

It would entirely up to you if you enjoy doing it. It is a game after all. Take me for example, I already have my slayer cape but I enjoy slaying so much that I still get slayer tasks instead of training my other skills.

Duel ring to Mob Army - spirit tree back. You can bank and be back in under 30 secs, Familiar friendly ;)

As it turns out, regular tortoises aren't so bad either. At straight 70s in melee, you can make like 300k gp/hr killing them in the Gnome Stronghold and banking the shells/bones, with ~37k xp/hr (according to http://runescoop.com/html/rs_MMCombatTortoise.htm). And that goes up significantly at higher levels. Not too shabby. Warped tortoises are better for money, though.
