Jeffwilson99
Today (11/1/10)I went on a snorkeling trip out at sea (as part of a chartered tour) where I got swim with a pod of Dusky Dolphins, and afterwards managed to snap some pics. [hide][/hide] [hide][/hide] [hide][/hide] [hide][/hide] I didn't have anyone to take pics in the water, but this is what it likes like when you go swimming with them. Dolphin swimming Yesterday (18/1/10)I had a chance to go on a Seabird tour, to see mainly Albatross, but I also saw some more Dusky Dolphins, as well a some Hectors Dolphins. [hide][/hide]Southern Giant Petrel [hide][/hide]Shy Albatross [hide][/hide]Wandering Albatross [hide][/hide]Antipodean Albatross [hide][/hide]Two Southern Giant Petrels fighting over food, while many Cape Petrels wait for scaps [hide][/hide]A Northern Royal Albatross, it flew near the boat but didb't land in the water close enough to the boat to get a picture. [hide][/hide]Another Dusky Dolphin we saw on the way back [hide][/hide]A Hectors Dolphins, the smallest and rarest dolphin in the world! Pretty rare to see them, aparently. A cool rock that I got a good picture of (good for me that is, go easy shiny  ). Most photos are not great or anything, but I'm bragging more about the exprience that the photo quality. tripsis
Cool pictures :) The last one is definitely my favourite. Swimming with dolphins is an amazing experience. I was on the beach in Hawaii once and a pod of dolphins swam up close to shore so a bunch of us got in the ocean and swam with them. It was amazing :) - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog

Shin
What did you shoot with and do you have EXIF data? The photos are absolutely stunning. I love the composition of the first photo. The water makes a cool Gaussian blur which really do add to the balance of the photo.
Jeffwilson99
Well I have a Sony Cybershot that I got last Christmas, it's a pretty cheap one, about $200 NZD when I got it. It's a bit annoying cos there aren't many settings you can change. And I'm not exactly a good photographer, plus the dolphins move pretty quickly while you're on a moving boat. Those were my best shots, you should have seen thr rest :P I can't really complain, it was an amazing experience. It's pretty awesome when you're in the water, you look down and you can see three or four dolphins swimming underneath and round you. Sometimes the come up and circle you, looking you in the eye the whole time as you try and paddle in a circle and try to keep up with them. It's hard to put that amazing experience into words... Ouchy
Lol shiny... Get that negative tone out of your voice young man! Dolphins are freaking awesome! Us folks here in little Aotearoa find Dolphins amazing. My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages. Shiny
Hehehe... DOLPHINS. Oh, and ouchy - it is Middle Earth, I don't know where you got the Aotearoa crap from... The first one is definitely my favorite. It is the most well composed out of all of them, it is dynamic and visually interesting. DOLPHINS. And you should get a better camera!!!!!! :@ Haha that episode is awesome! They not scary at all, they really good at playing around with you, but also good at not bumping into you. I didn't even touch one, I could have reached out, but we were instructed not to. Yeah, we swum with them (link at top of the page!). Yeah I would mind a better camera, but this one is only a year old and I don't use it that much. Maybe you should get a better camera!!!
i_love_burritos
How could you "swim" with them and not touch them ? I'd be petting them like crazy. Cool pics.

tripsis
Really great pictures! It's a shame you don't have a better camera because some of those photos could be absolutely terrific if the quality were better. Still, they are very nice! Sounds like you're having quite a nice time ;) I'm a bit jealous! - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
Jeffwilson99
Thanks, I screwed up two of the images, the second one and last ones were duplicates...not sure how I managed that but it's fixed now. Where'd you go camping?

Jeffwilson99
Thanks, those birds were described as "vultures of the ocean" by the guide. Do you have any C/C, advice etc?
Shiny
Use a faster shutter speed, to freeze the moment. Though I recommend you invest yourself into a better camera, you show great promise. You can nab some cheap cameras off trademe, indeed I got mine for $425 with a lens and bag. Just scour and you can get some good deals.
Jeffwilson99
I shall scour then. What I'm searching for , I am unsure. I'm guessing a SLR Camera type thing...as you can tell I dn't really know what I'm talking about.

I will one day... *sighs*I think a SLR camera is a camera which uses film. Are you actually interested in buying a better camera? 8,180WONGTONG IS THE BEST AND IS MORE SUPERIOR THAN ME#1 Wongtong stalker.Im looking for some No Limit soldiers! We have an older 70/80's Minolta SLR camera that was my dads, and it has a few different lenses but I would want a digital one. Yeah I would be pretty keen actually, not that I have a lot of money at the momment...I'm going back to work next week so I could save a bit more. Shiny
If it is a Minolta, I suggest you buy a Sony Alpha DSLR. You'll be able to use the lenses.
Jeffwilson99
Thanks. I looked it up, seem a bit pricy, and I'm also not sure what condition the lenses are in, they've been in storage for quite a while, since at least 2004.
