Mining and Ranged questions

Hi, I've just upgraded my account to P2P and i'm interested to know how to most effectively skill my mining and ranged levels. I haven't done any quests so far in members and so I have access to no special areas or anything where these skills might be trained easier, just as a note. My mining is currently only 21, and my ranged is 48.

 

Where can I most effectively mine and bank iron whilst being P2P? Starting from 21.

 

And also, is it still effective to use arrows as P2P? or would I be better off with knives? I currently have 2k Iron arrows, 1k steel and 1k bronze. I've been killing minotaurs since 30 and was planning on continuing till 50, then I'd swap to flesh crawlers, since i've learned you can earn quite good money on them for the herb drops.

Mine iron at Yanille. There's a bank close bye and a few rocks to keep you busy for a while.

 

You can probably stick to using the arrows, since you have them. Knives and stuff aren't really necessary.

It might take a bit of training to be able to do, but Animal Magnetism is a very important quest to do for P2P rangers. It allows you to use Ava's Attractor and Ava's Accumulator. Both of them retrieve ranged ammunition that you shoot for you, so that you don't have to pick up arrows, bolts, knives, or other ammunition after each kill. Knives are usually a bit faster experience than arrows, but it is important that you use them on monsters with low defense so that you always hit them, like cows. A very popular training spot are yaks on the isle of Neitiznot, but getting there requires beating a slightly harder quest and starting another, Fremennick Trials and Fremennick Isles.

Yanille might be a good bet...... Buuuuuuuuut you should try and get the levels for the Easy Ardy diary..... doing that you can use the cape tele to the monastery, whack around the iron ores there, then use a ring of duelling to get to castle wars.... rinse and repeat.

 

And as the above poster said - arrows are good enough..... make sure to use the best bow you can though, and a range potion might come in handy every so often at speeding things up.

That may be true, but he has the arrows anyway and bronze knives are almost impossible to buy nowadays.

 

I'd say stick with the current plan and keep camping at those minotaurs.

Oops, I thought he said he had that many knives.

 

Yep, with that many arrows, just use them to level. At low levels, it won't matter anyway.

thanks for the replies, i'm now at 50 range and 50 mining. I mined 2.7k Iron at Yanille and sold that for some nice profit. Aside from minotaurs, are there any other good ranged spots I can use? Preferably ones with safespots, though I don't mind using food. I'm looking for ones with nice drops as well, profit is quite important to me whereas time is not. Hopefully you can help :)
