OldJoe
Reading about some of these American news stations is quite worrying and I have to say I'm glad to live in Britain, at least some of the press here isn't ridiculously biased.Yes, I rather enjoy the BBC.BBC is biased. Just look at how they treat the BNP, 500 vs 1 in the studio. But i don't want to get too off-topic here. 1_man_army
The BNP are a minority, since they got less than 1% of the vote in the last general election I would say the audience was pretty representative of the general public. The Question Time discussion always tends to reflect what is being discussed politically and that week the big talking point was the BNP so that is why they were the focus of the show. There was no conspiracy against Griffin, he was given a platform and he just showed himself up. He had the opportunity to come out and impress potential BNP supporters in his appearance and he blew it. The fact that Griffin and his message was rejected in the show wasn't a show of BBC bias, it was a reflection of the nation's views. He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)

But still, the situation is funny. I only watched a short bit of Question Time but that's one of the things i noticed, since they do the exact same thing in my country against a political party (poll percentage since summer has been around 4.5 - 5.5% (you need 4% to get into government). Altho on one program, where they had some political leaders and the subject was this political party... They weren't even invited to the program. Now that was atleast quite clear bias. (Altho i should say that the tv station was fined guilty of being bias just the other day regarding this by some institute). And to get back a bit on topic: I don't really know how to express myself here, but i've got the feeling that people have been thinking that the change will come instantly. I mean, the Republican party has been in charge for most of US' history and in the last eight years, to change things around you need a bit of time on your hands. But it seems like people want things to happen instantly. I guess i shouldn't reply since i don't know much about American politics, but if i could have i guess, i would say that by 2012, the blues will be in power again. 1230abcz
Just reading the first post. I thought that the point of politics was to stand up for what you believe, atleast the GOP is doing that. Political parties should be serving the public, not their own, convoluted agenda's. The lobbyists have the power, not the people. [bleep] Congress. Nero
It seems the OP has finally understood the stupidity of American politics. Btw, it's the exact same in reverse when the Republicans are in power. The GOP just has more fanatical followers that spread their message, so you hear it more.
