Speedwise, is it worth it to use the Master Penance Horn?

Is it faster exp to get the horn and then do mining/agility exp or to keep training mining/agility/firemaking the normal way without spending the time to get the horn charged?

I'd say wait until more precise data about the horn comes out

there's people saying that master horns last for longer, that higher lvl = more xp frmo the horn, etc lots of factors

but overall it's shaping up to look like the horn is neutral to slightly better for agility, at least at higher levels

The same goes for mining, but i dont hate mining as much as agility now cuz of living rocks

i would seriously doubt that it's useful for firemaking, but i'll hold my breath until people release data

Zokot tried it out last week and said it was faster for him to simply train agility. He breaks it down in his blog here if you're interested.

THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P.

So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

I've heard that it's faster just to train agility and that the horn was put in to give players other things to do instead of grinding away for hours.

just like how stealing creation was introduced.

TGE. I know who you are, but I don't think you know me. I was the one who sent you a correction for your spreadsheet a few weeks back. ;-)

Mm, I'm unsure of his results.

So I filled it halfway. Playing the game, plus doing all the laps the horn had, it was three days.

I got a total of 517,090XP, which may seem a lot, but consider this.

A few days ago, I went from level 91 to 92 in two days. The XP difference between the two levels is 614,422 XP. That was in two days, and not three.

So in actuality, that 517,090XP was actually a waste and I could have gained a lot more XP if I put it into doing the course and not playing B.A.

Not only did it give less XP, it also gave me quite a bit of headaches, from people not doing the tutorial, not knowing how to play, and not knowing how to call out properly.

First, he's very vague and I had a bit of trouble understanding what he was stating. Second, he uses the unit "days", not "hours", which is a much better unit. "Days" isn't a reliable unit of measure since it varies too greatly. Thirdly, you can greatly decrease the time needed to charge the horn if you find a good BA clan or organize games with trustworthy friends.

Whenever you check how much potential remains in a master horn it states that the XP you recieve is based on your level in the skill. So that's confermed. Until the formula for this is found it's impossible to know at which levels it becomes effecient to use. However It took me 11 1-10 runs, and a 1-9 run (whether it fills based on the points you would have gained, or simply the wave number, I don't know yet), to fill up mine for the 2nd time (I didn't count for the first one). The first one lasted me for 1,250,000 experience (650,000 bonus xp) over the levels of 84-87. I am in the proccess of using up the xp potential of me 2nd full horn. I love BA and will continue using the horn regarless of my conclusions however atleast for these higher levels it seems worth using. Assuming a 1-10 run takes 45 minutes it took me slightly under 9 hours to fill it. 650k/9 is 72k xp/h; much higher than what is possible with agility courses. And keep in mind that as I level up it's going to last for more experience.

Filling it to half or a quarter and then projecting from those numbers will lead to innaccuracies because it's very vauge ("around half full" ect) when telling you the ammount it contains.

He does not specify if he used master horn or regular.

You did your testing with master horn, right?

Anyway I'm using horn because BA is fun and I couldn't level agility or firemaking without getting bored and giving up very fast so the master horn is definitelly good way for me to level. I used it for firemaking and got about 500k exp going from fully charged to 'more than three quarters full'. In the process I levelled up from 71 to 76.

So what are you asking for exactly.

Are you asking master horn > normal horn?

or

with horn > no horn?

But first thing first, do you actually own a master horn. Because on the way to get a master horn from normal horn is in fact wasting exp.

Bottom line is how fast your team can do a complete game (=1/10 horn). The fastest way is 1 maxed attacker, 1 healer, 1 collector, 2 defender, takes around 25min. Pretty close to a game of fast sc.
