Hey, I finally finished my website and I originally aimed for complete xhtml + css validation, but I got lazy. The coding is rather messy and not nice to look at so I wouldn't recommend perusing through it.

I've put quite a bit of work into it so comments on the design/functionality are greatly appreciated.

Note: The original navigation had the buttons extending from the left all the way too the right. Due to some incompatibilities with IE, I had to shorten it up some so now it stops short.

And, no, this isn't an advertisement. I solely want comments on the design of the site.

Thank you

Edit: Also, some of the links like the "featured blogs" and the links on the browse page are dead because I don't have anyones to put there right now.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, but Runescape's graphics ruin everything . I'm open to any suggestions on how to make it more Runey, but I'd prefer not to just take some ugly screenshot of a character and slap it on my banner. That's what the blogs are for

How about some stone, wood and metallic backgrounds. More medievil like and old. A more scripty LOTR style title etc.

Nice clean and relatively simple design. And you can make it validate for xhtml, just two errors - go for it ^-^.

About what the others said, yea I'd go for some RuneScapey feel, but wouldn't know where to start.

As for the navigation, I see you used css to style the list elements but had to cut it short because of IE bugs. I had the same problem with a site I'm designing (and might post when its done) and just used a table instead. I put eaach list element into its own

tag and problem solved. Not pure css design I know, but I prefer functionality.

Good luck with the site :D

I think the design is generally okay, but I'm put off by the fact that your top navigation bar links misfit in the space you allocated for the design. They're about 3 pixels of the left edge, and a lot more (like 20 or whatever) off the right hand side. They are also all different sizes, and they'd look better being similar-sized (imho). I know that the terms of service is a long link, but I think that's better off hidden away at the bottom, though properly presented when people apply for an account.

It is properly presented when people sign up already and I have to disagree. I think it should be a prominent button because of it's importance. I don't want issues of people "oh I didn't see it."

Like I stated, the navigation has given me trouble. The issue with the alignment on the left is due to the fact that I had it stretched to fit both sides before and due to some other issue I had spacing on the left and right. Now that I had to screw it up cause of IE I can get rid of that spacing that was on the left part of the nav.

~Eeeeediot, I'll probably get around to validating soon ;). My original goal was no tables hence the simple design and css. If the nav does end up being a big issue then I'll do the table thing.

~Merc, I really want to stray away from a graphic intensive site. Once people have signed up there is really no reason to visit the main site again. The browse page is the only existing thing on the main site really that someone would want to check out. I know but not having a "Runescapey" feel that potential users might be turned off.

I'm in the process of getting a new banner that should hopefully stick with the flow of the site but bring in some runescape elements.

Thanks everyone
