Dragon Bones- still best thing to use?

Featured Replies

Im wondering if using dragon bones on gilded alters is still the best way to train prayer, or if buying more of a bone that gives less exp would be better

To get the best xp:speed ratio

You use Dagganoths bones of a guilded altar

To get the best cost:xp ratio

You want to use dragon bones on the ectofunctus

Okay, thanks much.

However the speed of the Gilded Altar vs. the Ectofunctus isn't enough to justify the annoyance of the Ectofunctus, last time I checked. Unless you enjoy grinding 14 bones a trip (unless you can buy the bones already in a pot), and traveling to get buckets of slime, and then worshipping 14 bones at a time while having to collect Ectotokens, I'd use a Gilded Altar.

You seem to of garbled that first sentence.

But its like I said:

Dagg bones (the most expensive but highest xp) at a gilded altar (triple xp) is the best xp:speed ratio

Dragon bones (best cost:xp bone) at ectofunctus (quad xp) is the best cost:xp ratio

Which clearly implies altar method costs more, but is faster.

Ecto method is cheaper but slower.

It's somewhere around 3x as slow, which means the opportunity cost of using the ecto over the g altar actually outweighs just using a g altar and making money with the time saved.

To answer the question, big bones were the best xp per gp last I checked.

Made sense to me. I'll rephrase it for you, Paw. You mentioned using Dragon Bones on the Ecto is the best cost/xp ratio, so I was mentioning the slowness and annoyance of using the ecto wasn't enough to justify using it.

Simple answer: yes.

Use dragon bones on a gilded altar with two incense burners. Dagganoth bones are way too expensive, ectofuntus is way too slow.

I did some calculations before, but it assumed that you have enough summon for terror bird and by the time I was writing dragon bone was only 3k each.

http://forum.tip.it/topic/246025-56-70-prayer-costs/page__p__3875700__fromsearch__1entry3875700

If I plug in my old formula with now d bones = 5k, marrentill = 0.506k, terrorbird = 0.352k (yep, there is still an inflation going on)

The result is (5020.24k - 2016.704k * 2.1)/1.1 = 713.78327k...repeating of cause.

Ie: Now you gotta make over 714k per hour to compensate the extra cost of the alter method cost with ecto.

Correct me if I am wrong.

It is kind of sad that 5 months is what it takes to rise the cost from an easily achievable making 455.62k per hour to now over 714k per hour. I guess at this rate, after 3.5 years everyone have to make over 9000k per hour in order to power train something.

[hide= Details of the formula below]

You guys all are fast makers or what  ?

Here are the calculations, forumula originate by viewtopic.php?f=143&t=788110&start=0 (dragon bones have raised by 1k per bone since the thread was made, see GE for details):

altar (40 trips) (bones)3.2*1000+(marrentil, last for 3 min per burn)0.360*40 = 3214.4k

ecto (31 trips) (bones)3.2*280*1.44+(terrorbird)0.385*2= 1291.01k

Ecto with terror bird fletch you 403*288= 116k exp

To get 252k from ecto, you need 2.1 hours

Cost of 252k from ecto = 1291.01*2.1= 2713.211k

So, altar cost 3214.4-2713.21= 501.19k more than ecto for 252k exp.

But, we know that ecto need an extra 1.1 hour to archieve the 252k exp from 1 hour of altar...

SO, if and only if you make over 455.62k per hour, wasting time to find a guy with altar is a waste of time.

perfectionist should add these in calculations as well:

altar: (teletab)0.935*40+ (duel rings) 1.8*5

ecto: (duel rings) 1.8*4

[/hide]

I think Baby Dragon Bones, Zogre Bones, and Big Bones have lower cost/xp ratios, but are pretty hard to get and slower than dragon bones.
