Ill have access to a yip soon so will be selling my guthans as the general opinion seems to be that its useless once you have acess to a yip. From what ive seen the next bit of kit thats usefull is EE or SGS for healing. I wont have acess to a SGS for a long time so is it worth completing the diary? I'd only need to get 70 prayer (which im planning now anyways), 80 felctching and 75 firemaking (both skills are in the 50's). Is it a good idea to spend a few weeks on these 3 skills for EE? I know feltching will pay for itself but what of firemaking, advice please. Thanks :)

guthans is NOT useless with yip.

On task guthan = yip

Yip gives persistent small healing, guthan gives random large healing.

Both still need food agaisnt many monsters.

Guthans + yip = no need for food at all against a good 75% of monsters

Until you get 88 summoning I would always keep guthans available.

With most boss hunting guthans+bunyip is more then enough to allow you to last as long as possible.

Well a long with what those 2 have said. With either a Bunyip or Guthans with a EE, you will have plenty of healing for most slayer monsters and campable monsters. But for bosses having both is necessary. I know for doing DKs it is nice to have both incase you get to low on health and for tanking Bandos Guthans is useful along with a good healing familiar.

I say it is worth it to get the EE as it is a good item to have, and i use it on all the tasks that i need healing on. Also good to use when training agility as you only need healing every so often and that is what the EE provides. Don't forget that you can boost your levels to get the goals in the Diaries.

I use bunyip + EE on nearly all slayer tasks, no food needed, exceptions are hard hitting monsters like Terror dogs and Ice wyrms while melee'ing, where a unicorn is more useful. I've never seen the use for Guthan's after getting 68 summoning. But you ought to get Torag's, as having a higher defence lessens the need for food even with bunyip + EE.

It's definately worth it imo.

What do you plan on doing? If slayer, then go with EE and bunyip -- those two eliminate the need for Guthan's on pretty much every task out there as long as you're using Bandos or better for armour (barrows is better defence wise). Boss hunting is a bit of a different story -- you might still need Guthan's for those and I'm not as much of an expert there.
