Failed at jad twice =(

ok, i just recently started tryin to get fire cape. Ive done it twice now, first time i got to healers and once the last healer was hittin me i prayer switched wrong and died, second time he hit a 74 on me with range (think i had right prayer on) anways Im wondering am i good enough to do jad? heres my stats:

80: def

71 range

70: prayer

btw, how many times did it take you to kill jad? and is 3 times normal?

guthans is outdated, and I'd get higher range although if your getting to jad its your prayer switching skills, not your range level thats making the difference. I think theres a prayer switching guide in AoW

 

also my first try I think it took me about 6, then 4 then 1 for my other 5 capes, GL

Well i got to jad 3 times and died and still haven't got cape. But my friend tried 13 times before getting to jad. But has killed him ever since, and has over 100 capes banked,

I killed him on the second try ever by keeping MAGE PRAY on and only briefly switching out when I saw him stomp. It's a little different from the normal method, but I found it easier, and people I know who have used it have found it easier also.

Got it second try, and every time after that. Didn't know healers were going to appear my first time (though I'd heard jad heals)...

after that I read a guide and it was all better. Also, you can try that defend token gaining thing at warriors guild, it's similar.

And be sure to be relaxed against Jad. Take a nice warm bath first :)

also missed my tries there but i don't complain since i never trained pray swaping.

now, since i do some TDs, and doing better and better, i feel more in a way i'll get it.

like Lalala or many other told : 90mins to jad aren't that difficult if you stay concentrated... even starting jad is ok, but healers are a pain...

my thought are that i need to understand how to lure those the right way along keeping prayer swaping wisely.

being calm enough is a "sooooo important" fight (in my eyes) is a bit lolish after 90mins straight.

That's also why i consider loging out after last possible waves, have a nap and come back fresh and ready.

Brews, Enhanced Excalibur, SGS, Soul Split. With 99 defense i was able to get to jad on EE heals and a few brew sips.

So it is not so much outdated as it is inferior to other methods at higher levels of skills and equipment. The Guthans method is still viable for those without those abilities/equipment options, is it not?

Im 90 defense and I got to jad with only enhanced excaliber and 1 dose of brew. Guthans is VERY outdated.

Well with ranging you can safespot most of the damage and use prayer to ignore the rest. The EE, which is free and only requires Seer's hard diary, has hardly any high skill requirements.

 

And even then, if they can afford guthans they can afford to get the EE and a few brews and better equipment.

micromanaging of stats? in what way? also you can use 1k brews before it equals the cost of guthans...thats about 60k hp, I doubt guthans will EVER heal you that much.

I would HIGHLY recommend just a straight up range method with your stats...

I got my cape first try on this character (altho it took my 6 on Trojann2 to get on the OLD animation Jad.)

 

Range will set you up for the highest success! I would say go and use THIS guide! Muggi himself got a cape at 47 combat. Me personally at 92! 70 range and 43 prayer is all that's needed! Anything else just makes it easier. I just recently completed the caves for my cape in all of the LOWEST gear possible, so you should be easily able to do it.
