Looking at upgrading my current comp :O

Well, as the title says I am looking to update my current computer :). However I am not fantastic with computers as far as building them goes so this is also a bit of an experiment

The main thing I would like my computer to do is run WoW as seamlessly(sp?) as possible, but my pathetic 512MB of RAM is sort of restricting this :). So, the solution the the problem? More RAM for Kiel. I am hoping to be able to upgrade to a shiny new 1gb of RAM. but in doing so a problem arises, that being I have no bloody idea which parts would suit my computer XD As well as a RAM update I would also like to get a better GFX card, but I am more worried about RAM atm.

The current specs:

Motherboard: Intel D865PERLL Pentium IV Prescott Motherboard

RAM: 512Megabytes 800 MHz PC3200Mhz Hyundai DDR-RAM

CPU: Intel Pentium IV 3GHz CPU with 800MHz Front Side Bus

Hard Drive: Western Digital 80Gigabyte 8Mb Cache Serial ATA150 Hi-Speed 7,200rpm Hard Disk

Video Card: Xtreama 128Mb DDR Geforce MX-4000 8x AGP Video Card

OS: Microsoft Windows XP Service Package 2

So anyways, I need to update these to make my computer a bit more 1337  And since i have no idea what hardware I would need, I am turning to you guys XD Thanks :)

Any 184 pin DDR PC3200 RAM should suite you. If your looking to go with ram that accompanys your current stick:

Hi mate

your graphics card is fine to run wow or any other MORPG tbh, wow is all about your RAM, I'm no expert myself, but because wow dosnt run intense graphics, phsyics engines, light engines etc, it simply has alot of stuff to load, so it comes more down to your RAM (yes i play it alot too) personally id focus all your money into ram if your simply gonna play wow on it, tho if your looking to play other genres, its best to upgrade your graphics card too.

just to ensure you this isnt some kind of guess, my brother has only a 64mb g card (dont know make but its relatively crappy) but yesterday slapped a gig of ram in, he now runs wow on near highest settings, and even raids bwl/mc with no lag

hope this helps -=[ Gaz ]=-

When it comes to games like WoW (world of warcraft) you can notice a 15% increase in quailty between 1gig and 2gigs of RAM.

When it comes to GFX cards 256mb is pretty much the sweet spot. 128 is a little weak, 512 is over kill. Why does it matter? The more RAM on the card = the less RAM stolen from the system.

Thanks guys, had a lot going on so this took me a while to get to ;)

Firstly, I will take my chances as far as computers shaking themselves apart. I have decided to update RAM a fair bit (another 512mb min), as well as buy another pretty 256 gfx card :) I hear watercooling is the way to go, and Mercifuls comupter looks bloody awesome, so does anyone know much about it? ;)
