Mischlings
Whenever I'm on these forums, I have a weird problem with the pointer. It continuously jumps around the screen, mainly to places on the right side, about halfway down from the top of the screen. I have a HP Touchsmart laptop and whenever it jumps to the side, it shows the cursor that appears when I use the stylus. I have never had this problem with any other site, and it still happens even when I have this forum open but a different window on top of it. Does anyone have a clue what this could be? Sam
I'm confused - do you have a mouse or are you using your hands on the screen seeing as it's a touchsmart? 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
Mischlings
I'm using a mouse -- the cursor keeps jumping around whether I use the mouse or the stylus, however. If it matters, I'm using Firefox on Windows Vista. I'm not sure if it happens in other browsers, but I don't want to switch away from using Firefox. Laura
Only when these forums are open? Hm. I would take a swing and try another browser only to see if it is Firefox. I know you said you don't want to use another browser, but if it is Firefox then there are a few tricks we can offer you. I would have thought it a problem with the drivers controlling the touchscreen. Edited April 3, 2010 by laura0077
Mischlings
Only when these forums are open? Yes, oddly enough. I have never been able to recreate this with any other site or program. EDIT: I just remembered -- I did have this problem once before with Windows Media Player, but I think I only had it once with that program, while I have it all the time here. D. V. Devnull
Question for you, thekiller308 -- Do you run into the Adverts from BurstNet on any other website? If not, I suggest chopping the Adverts from the site with the help of AdBlock Plus in FireFox temporarily, if for nothing more than diagnostic purposes. I'd almost bet they're either causing lag, or that there is a nasty JavaScript or Flash Object in the background that is causing your issue. :geek: BTW, if anyone's curious, I wouldn't be online if I weren't following my parents' anti-advert policy here. However, I'm not having any trouble with the site. So it suggests that maybe the adverts are at fault. Sure, I could potentially be wrong, but it doesn't hurt to check, right? :D ~Mr. D. V. D. V. Devnull
Off-Topic... But I'm willing to answer this just to put it to rest...BTW, if anyone's curious, I wouldn't be online if I weren't following my parents' anti-advert policy here. Aren't you 25 or 26? lol 27, but I live with my parents. So, their house, their network, their rules. Personally, I like how the PCs tend to stay virus-free and speedy due to it. B) 'Nuff said, though... back to the main topic, please? :) On-Topic... It just seems strange that thekiller308 would be having problems with Tip.It Forums, when I know the Staff here have a reputation for keeping the site working without problems. Unless thekiller308 has picked up a virus on their PC that they haven't caught yet, but I'd like to think that's unlikely here. :-k ~Mr. "Odd, eh?" Unluckily for you, I really am 27... Have you looked at my forum profile lately? On-Topic: Still waiting for a response from you, thekiller308 ... What's going on at your end? ~Mr. D. Making a post giving your side of the discussion then saying stop is just plain stupid.
Laikrob
I see no posts breaking any rules here, so keep on discussing - preferrably on topic. Laikrob,Tip.It Moderator You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now? I'd almost bet they're either causing lag, or that there is a nasty JavaScript or Flash Object in the background that is causing your issue. :geek: I use adblock plus, so I don't get any ads here. Also, I got the same problem with the pointer earlier today using WMP. This forum and that program are the only things that I've ever noticed this little glitch with. (It took me a bit to respond because I pretty much forgot that I'd started this thread) If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature. Sbrideau
I don't know if it's already been mentionned, but have you tried to update your driver? We never know. Btw awesome avatar you have, Dream Theater Metropolis pt 2: Scenes from a memory, one of my favorite albums of this band, and also my favorite band.
