I think if JaGeX can't think of any serious skills they should stop making them.

I love this form of propaganda. Don't like something, so disregard it as not "real" or "serious." Do tell, what is the difference between a "serious" and "not serious" skill? If I were to go to Andrew and say "what is up with dungeoneering" would he go "it was a joke, lol? emot-smug.gif"

Summoning started to get a tiny bit silly with pets, however summoning is still worthy as a skill as it can be used in combat too. Dungeoneering however is totally stupid as the rewards are unsellable and to get good rewards you need 400,000+ tokens and level 80+ which takes a normal player months, also the skill cannot be used outside of dungeonheim.

I don't see how pets made summoning silly. Oh no, you can have vanity pets that follow you around and eat food, no other MMO has ever done that before. Your other points here are valid, but do they make Dungeoneering "totally stupid?" No.

Instead I would prefer more Highscorable Minigames as they can still be played / trained competitively and will have rewards just like skills..and Dungeoneering. ;)

Well accept my apologies that Dungeoneering isn't just another skill you can semi-afk train in a catatonic state at your computer for hours on end.

P.S I never said I dont like the skill. I said its a stupid SKILL, that doesn't mean it is a stupid minigame.

I have it on good word from a parallel universe (where Dungeoneering was released as a mini-game) that you registered there as well to complain about how mini-games shouldn't be that complicated, and that if Jagex were to put out a "mini-game" too difficult to just jump into, that they should have just called it a skill.

I kind of have to agree:

It's not that I have anything against Dungeoneering, it's just that I REALLY wish it had been made a minigame: I don't really enjoy it that much, but in order to preserve my respectable total level and have all of my skills ranked, I have to pursue it. It almost feels forced, and it's incredibly frustrating when I actually enjoy every other skill in RS.

Precisely.

People just want SOMETHING to whine about, regardless of what.

See, it comes down to how you play. You believe that you need to "preserve your respectable total level", which I find really silly as its a game and you should never have to forced to do something, just so you can have respect from others. Of course, if its a personal reason or something, you only have to get to high to get it ranked... just take your time with it.

There are a bunch of skills which do not directly produce sellable goods. Firemaking, Agility, and Prayer do not, in the strictest sense of indirect benefits.

But what about the other skills? Profitable right?

Like hunting? Nobody even buys stuff from hunter outside of red chins! Fletching does poorly as a moneymaker, Construction is a money SINK, and magic doesn't appear to have any other major use other than alching (a glorified version of selling), teleporting, and sometimes a combat skill when you're feeling particularly rich and don't care about paying for runes. Summoning's only given increased profits to the folks selling ingredients, cooking food actually DECREASES the value of food save for tuna potatoes which take AGES to make, smithing up until now has been useless, crafting is in the same boat, and Slayer does not guarantee you the drop until you go out there and wait for the lottery to pick you. Which is exactly like boss hunting! (I hear that they are comparing Dungeoneering to boss hunting too.) Oh, and herblore. Hah! Better to sell the herbs.

On the whole, byproducts of anything OTHER than combat are considerably less profitable than merchanting the supplies beforehand!

The only things that provide a straight to bank profit are thieving, mining, runecrafting, woodcutting, and fishing, and the last two have had their value driven into the ground unless you're pulling some high levels there. Hell, the others also require a high level to get any decent profit. Mining in itself is useless outside of being driven by the demand from smithing, which then ends up being useless (outside of dungeoneering, hahahahaha) too! The largest drive behind runecrafting is double natures. Geez. What a varied and diverse skill.

Anyway, I'd wait until more of the skill gets developed anyway. There are other places out there waiting to be found, and I certainly hope those deliver some phat lewts.

Hmm...... Lets start with Agility. You can use it outside of the agility courses. It gives the rather nice benefit of recharging run faster and making it last longer. Those are very outside benefits.

Firemaking. I agree, its pretty much worthless. Cape looks cool, and u get the adze at 92.

Prayer. Soul split is worth it, when i can get it, i will. You make money using the prayer that spend money to get. Also, a requirement for most pro GWD teams is Turmoil. So you make huge money doing that.

Cooking. Last I checked, you needed 80 for EE still. This alone gives reason to train the skill. And hmm, I don't really feel like being subject to the rise and fall of demand for pvp supplies. Especially during the summer when all the pkers are buying every shark they can get their hands on.

Herblore. Extremes are amazing. Again, I know they pay for themselves, so I will be getting them when I have enough cash to do so. Till then, I'm gonna farm avantoe.

Farming. You left this one out of your post completely. Easily 4m profit a week.

Runecrafting. I would say that getting paid 400m to get 99 in this skill is a pretty big benefit that can be used in the outside world.

Mining. A rare 99 to have, so it comes with alot of prestige. Rune mining is ~1m/hr profit.

Smithing. Another prestige 99. More respect for a smith cape then a cook or fletch or str cape. Not actually that expensive compared to other skills.

And finally, Dungeoneering. Lets go down with a team, go through all these rooms, fight a boss at the end, and earn these tokens that we can spend on levels, or some fun gear. Wait a minute, since when does a skill earn you tokens that you get to spend for xp or items. Wait a minute, that sounds like Barbarian assualt! or Soul wars! or Pest Control! or *gasp* Stealing Creation! When is Jagex gonna give me Level 99 Barbarian assualt! I've played enough of it............

You missed one at the end there. Slayer! Its strange that people are complaining about dungeneering giving you tokens but you never hear a peep against slayer. Guess people just like their slayer helms to much.

As for this skill having no use, summoning was virtually useless until the second batch came out. i can see the same with dungeoneering. maby one day high level dungeons with special boss monsters like kbd or dks that you need dungeoneering to get to?

Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

1) The reward from woodcutting is a log, you can sell it. The reward from mining is a log, you can sell it.

Hey Omali, you're half of the reason I visit this forum. Keep up the good work, sir.
