Deathscythe
Buy steel bars and make platebodies.Ok but I read on runescape.wikia.com that Making iron platebodies out of iron bars is the most fiscally efficient way to power-level Smithing until level 88, considering losing money in a ratio of 8 coins to 1 experience currently. You're OP says you want something faster though, and I'd imagine iron smithing would be painfully slow compared to other methods. 99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving. Bladewing
Efficiency depends on your income, which you did not give. How much money can you make per hour with your best method? How to Chin Nechyraels for fast XP and profit
Zaaps1
Smelting gold isn't a bad idea either. Smelting gold via superheat is a great idea. Making your best platebody is always the fastest method, though. ~It's Super Effective! gorofujita
You could try smithing gold ore with the goldsmith gauntlets, with current prices, this is about 4.4 gp/xp, and is 56.2 xp per bar smithed. With a moderate ammount of concentration, (using super heat) you could get 123k per hour. (i forgot to include price of natures, so this might be a bit more expensive, because I make my own natures)

Zaaps1
Ah, missed that he was f2p. In that case, superheat something else. It's a fantastic way, although a little slow, to train both magic and smithing. I'd recommend iron or mithril. ~It's Super Effective! poiuytreza2
Are you sure mithril is a good way? In theory it works, but I have a hard time selling them ---- EDIT: I was incorrect. Mithral bars do sell easily around and above 1800gp. My only annoying factor is getting the mithril ore, and getting it cheap enough --- Since januari/februari 2001 ---The Grand Exchange Search Extension
