Overpowered equipment

I like the idea of an abyssal whip. It's a heavy hitting, fast, hard to wield, hard to get weapon. The whip requires an attack of 70 to wield, 85 slayer to obtain as a drop. At first blush, I thought that it was a great way to let high-leveled players upgrade equipment past dragon.

 

But now we have level, what, 60s with 70 attack (sparing their other combat stats) and the single mil to buy a whip on the ge using them. They're totally overpowered for their level, and are probably stronger than me (cl 86, dragon longsword my main weapon).

 

If anyone else wants to make a similar rant, feel free to.

Pures are terrible at training and doing bosses, they have a huge handicap in playing the actual game. So nah I think is fair, gaining offense power at losing gameplay and defense.

Single mil? What time do you live in? The whip is 3.5m mid. Anyway, with a whip in the 60 combats, they'll be what? 1 defence? Losing out on parts of the game there.

At what? I mean only pvping is really the only thing you are looking at.

Of course, I mean that is the reason people make pures right? What is the point of making pures if they are going to be the same as everyone else?

They're geared towards being better at certain aspects of the game..

Problem is you're comparing the whip to a dragon longsword, which pretty much everyone considers an inferior weapon.

The whip is meant to be a better dragon scimitar, and while it has a significant advantage, it's not nearly as overpowered as the longsword may have you think.

Pures, they're another issue entirely.

Also, if you want to talk about overpowered equipment, think claws or ags or something.

I really don't know overpowered equipment (I don't have any).

But anyways, this just shows how silly strength pures are. You can get that much, and more strength, just by having the attack levels to equip a higher weapon with a bonus higher than the strength level you'd otherwise shoot for. And you'll hit to boot.

I'm not a pure. At all. My only combat stat not between 55 and 65 is summoning (46).

the point of 60 attack pures is the big dds/claw ko at lower combats than godsword pures - the steady dps should be done with range, which is accurate enough tbh

then dont worry tbh - forget members for a while, suit up in full rune and play some f2p bh - you wont kill anything, but you'll find out just how powerless those melee pures are against mains

Dragon scimitar gets about four hits per dragon longsword's three. The max hit difference is pretty minor, especially if you have reasonable base strength to back it up.

Because the average whip user has far better stats than the average dlong user.

And I suppose whip's extra 40 LP or something of max hit over a dscim doesn't hurt either.

You miss my point. Whip appears a lot stronger than it actually is, simply because the characters wielding it are on average innately stronger.

They could just as easily produce (almost nearly as) amazing hits with a dscim.

Then this thread is biased in a lot of ways. It's like calling a Rune Scimitar overpowered because some high levels are hitting 40s with it, and you're only hitting 30s with Dscim.

 

The point goes; Don't blame the equipment, blame your stats
