CLS vs Cmaul

I'm having a really hard time deciding which weapon to get once I get the required level (in about 12-14 days).

Maul:

+Highest strength in the game, capable of hitting around 690 with max strength bonus + super pots + turmoil

+Highest attack bonus in game, and since melee attack style doesn't make much difference except against WFs, Dragons, and the Corp... This is the most accurate weapon.

+Incredible weapon for PKing

-Speed equivalent to a GS, so it's a bit slow.

-Two handed, so it's not good for soloing anything other than TDs

+Great for Tormented Demons and team GWD. Since TDs switch prayers after 300 damage, you want the highest hit possible before they switch. And at GWD, you want the highest hits possible in one or two turns to ensure your team gets the kill.

Longsword:

+More accurate than a GS when paired with rune defender

+Faster than a GS, and only 5 less strength than a GS when paired with a DFS

+One of the best weapons for killing dragons (rapier might edge it out)

+Best weapon for soloing bosses, especially if you have a ESS/DSS

+Great weapon for pking, since it's basically a perm VLS.

What do you guys think I should get? I don't PK, and I rarely do team GWD. The bosses I do most are TDs and DKs.

Definately chaotic longsword, has so many more uses and no you won't be able to use the maul for corp/dragons or fiends, the speed just won't cut it, not only that it will be the wrong attack style aswell hence lowering damage further, what you really want to ask is, chaotic rapier or chaotic long, even then i'd say the long, unless you never ever MH.

Actually maul would be pretty incredible for WFs, since it gives twice the crush bonus of any other weapon.

I like to think of Chaotic Maul as an AGS always using a special. That's what I'm getting at 80. :ohnoes:

A slow AGS.

Longsword is they way to go bro. It has more than one attack style, it is one handed maul is pretty much garbage i mean it does have leet str bonus and stuff but i really couldn't picture myself slaying with the thing or even killing waterfiends.. After all its 200k/hr to use not saying thats a problem or anything but zamorakian spear trumps that. Even for td's it seems to be the superior weapon you never have to un-equip your shield unless you're going to use claws or something like that.

My best piece of advice would be to aquire the longsword first and then work towards the maul as a secondary weapon.

I'm pretty sure Long Sword would be better for that anyways, considering Bandos armour has a high Crush defence.

In a maxed team, you'd probably only get one shot, in which case the maul would be preferable.

Doesn't do much good if you don't hit with it though, wouldn't you want a higher chance to hit?

You're going to hit. If you hit with a godsword (and you do), you're going to hit with the maul.
