Armour advice

Featured Replies

I'm level 85str, 82atk and 70def and i want to train my def to lvl 80 by training slayer. Problem is I only have full rune. Now i want armour that i won't only be using for slayer tasks but also for other just-for-fun training. Basically I want the best armour I could with my small budget of about 36M. I could increase that budget to about near 50M if i really tried, and even more if i was desperate. Any suggestions guys? Oh and btw my current weapon is the abyssal whip.

Just get some Torag's. It's got very nice defence bonuses and it's moderately cheap. You can also go for Verac's if you wanted, I believe the whole set is only around 7-8m. But honestly, Rune is fine, imo. And keep the whip ;)

You might also want to fix your signature, add the other bracket ( ] ) at the end of your [/img]. :)

abyssal whip is fine, it's what you should be using.

Verac's Skirt

Dragon Boots

Rune Defender

Slayer Helmet/Black Mask

Barrows gloves or next best option

ring -> you can afford a berserker, but warrior's ring is good, particularly good for low attack levels.

amulet -> Glory or fury, once again up to you on how much you spend

I would recommend prosy platebody and that you piety your slayer tasks.

Any player can make ~ 500k in daily activities between MTK, and various shops

500k should be enough for 3 hours of piety a day, depending on prayer bonus.

at the very least use the +10% or +15% strength prayer.

but yeah rune... shouldn't be used in p2p :)

Yeah I was thinking of getting torag's as well, but then I didn't get it cause i was thinking once i get more money i'll want to upgrade to the next best armour and so on and so on, which is why I was hoping to get the best i can now. I'm planning on holding on to the whip though, but is it good for training defence? And I meant to fix my sig weeks ago but I got lazy, i'll do it now i guess haha. And thanks a lot for the quick response.

So knowing I'm going to upgrade eventually, should i still get torags? what about dharoks?

Draggle uses rune and he's 138 combat!

I think Dh, is around like, 11m, or something...? I don't think it's worth it ;)

Dh at low hp actually isn't faster DPS than a whip in many cases either :P

I have dragon boots and worn out gauntlets. I can work on getting the rune defender.

But yeah honestly I'm just getting back into runescape after a long period of time, i know what verac's is i had it once but what the hell is a black mask

oh god you've been gone for AGES havent you

Black mask: +15% Melee accuracy and damage on slayer task

Focus Sight: +15% Ranged accuracy and damage on slayer task

Hexcrest: +15% Magic accuracy and damage on slayer task

Slayer Helmet: +15% Melee accuracy and damage on slayer task and the defence of a rune full helmet. It's made from a black mask + some other items.

Full Slayer Helmet: +15% to Melee/Ranged/Magic accuracy and damage on slayer task and the defence of a rune full helmet. It's made from a slayer helmet + focus sight + hexcrest

RFD Gloves - best combat gloves in the game, period

you get them from the Recipe for Disaster quest.

you can also get new weapons and trinkets from the new dungeoneering skill

These don't cost money to buy, you buy them with "Dungeoneering tokens" which you earn while training dungeoneering.

Gem bag (holds 100 gems)

Bonecrusher (automatically buries any bones from monsters you kill for prayer xp)

Chaotic Weapons (lvl 80 weapons, best in the game, but potentially expensive to repair)

Chaotic Shields (lvl 80 shields, potentially expensive to repair)

Antipoison totem (roughly a rune kiteshield that prevents you from getting poisoned)

Arcane Stream Necklace (+15% magic damage)

So what's the difference between a black mask and a black mask (10)...I have the choice to buy both in GE.

And thanks a lot for a really relevant and detailed response, i will most likely get the black mask and eventually i'll get into dungoneering as soon as i get closer to reaching my other goals (hopefully soon). I also have to do a lot of quests including the one to get barrows gloves (recipe for disaster i believe?). Oh and is slayer helmet basically another name for black mask?

Slayer helm = Earmuffs, facemask, nosepeg, black mask, and spiney helm

Full Slayer Helm = Earmuffs, Facemask, Nosepeg, Blk mask, spiney helm, focus sight, and hexcrest

Black Mask(10) = means it has 10 charges that can randomly drop ur opponents def ,however, it cannot be used to make the slayer helm/FSH. ONLY a black mask uncharged can be used for this.

Black Mask = no charges

*NOTE* Slayer helm and Full

Slayer helm givesc +15% att and str boost when on slayer tasks

Lol well I just looked it up and I need a lot of slayer points to make one...currently I have 1 -.-

But thanks a lot for the responses everyone.

Here is what I have or will get as my melee equipment

Full Torag (without the weapon)

Abyssal whip

Amulet of Fury

Slayer helmet

Dragon boots

Dragonfire shield

Worn-out gauntlets (eventually barrow gloves)

Berseker ring

Any critiques or suggestions anyone?

Imp_killa.png

Unless u just absolutley need the def dont both with the dfs it isnt worth the 35m or so unless u do a ton of dragons. Try to get a rune defender instead,

You're good to go. And like someone else has mentioned, you may want to do a few quests to get initiate or proselyte armor for praying when training.

Replace Dragonfire shield with Rune defender

Rune isn't bad armor for slayer if your defense is high enough and you aren't killing miths or something.

But ya, get barrows.

I would just like to add that sacred clay platebodies have the same amount of defence as a rune plate, but are about 7 kgs lighter. This makes them great for places where you need defence + lightness like abyss runs.
