On 12/4/2009 I purchased a "SAMSUNG HD502HI 500GB 5400 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive" Off of Newegg.com. On June 19th it failed. I have not made contact with the drive since it was installed. I only got one warning and then my computer crashed. After trying to reinstall windows it became apparent that I did not have a C:// drive anymore, and that it failed.

 

Am I still eligible for a replacement HDD through Samsung?

Wow this REALLLYYY sucks, I can't afford a new one either atm so guess I gotta use my crappy crappy laptop\

 

Edit: I looked at Newegg's website and it is not sold anymore, but it says 3-year limited manufacturer warranty. I was told by a few people that you can still trade them in, but now I don't know. I plan to call them tomorrow to see if I can get an answer

 

Edit2: Talked to a buddy of mine, he had a problem with some RAM he bought off Newegg, and sent it to his manufacter months after purchase, and got it replaced, so I do have a tiny sliver of hope.

Samsung drives have got a 3 year warranty.

 

First contact Newegg, then contact Samsung if Newegg doesn't cooperate about this problem.

He bought it from Newegg who are a respected distributor to consumers so his warranty with Samsung will be perfectly intact and usable.

Umm, many bigger "green" drives are 5400RPM, and they are new. If you are looking for a drive just for storage then 5400RPM is just fine.
