I was wondering which should I use, a rune defender or an obby shield for my melee set up

both give same str bonus, but obby shield has more defense bonuses, while rune defender has less defense bonuses, but higher offensive bonuses

Which do u guys prefer?

 

P.S. is it "easy" to get a rune defendr from the cyclops??

Rune Defender >>>>> Obby Sheild. You should always be using a rune defender when training melee, offensive bonuses are worth a lot more than defensive bonuses. The only exception is when you're fighting something that is hitting you extremely hard, you might want to consider extra defence then.

 

Edit: It shouldn't be too hard, depends on you're luck really, you could get one within 100 kills or maybe even 1000 kills.

I'd not even consider using DFS or Obby shield for slayer. Rune defender is always better.

Rune defender when fighting most things, I can't really think of anything high level that you need a sheild for at the moment.

Perhaps the only thing you would realistically need to use DFS is wyverns, other than that rune defender is always better. Obsidian shield isn't best for anything.

So how long does it take to get a rune defender from cyclops?

It really depends on your luck.

 

I got mine (from none to rune) within the hour

I got all of my defenders within 1k tokens. It's all luck. Higher combat skills help for faster kills.
