Here it is, folks, Daxter76s magical list of awesome albums. Ill be giving you 20 albums of epicness. You better like em. :D I hope none of the songs have that bad language. XD

1. Rated R, Queens of the Stone Age.

ej439.jpg

How could a man like me start with anything else? A man of my QOTSA ever since hearing In My Head, it slowly spiralled into obsession. Rated R is my personal favourite of their stuff. Its very close to Songs for the Deaf, but this one just pulls away with Auto Pilot.

Auto Pilot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPhKGMh7YsA

2. Purgatory Dance Party, Polkadot Cadaver.

Ah, such a great album. This band was created from members of Dog Fashion Disco (And personally I think its a lot better) Theres some pretty awesome stuff here. It must be if one song got me obsessed in an instant. If the zombie doesnt do it for you (It did for me), maybe this song will.

Long Strange Trip to Paradise: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noe3P637214

3. Come With Us, The Chemical Brothers.

dc5zpc.jpg

Ill admit, this is something of a new find. Ive only been listening to these guys for a few months tops, and I must say, theyre really good. Come With Us secured its position as my favourite Chemical Brothers album after I heard The Test and Star Guitar. Heres The Test.

The Test:

4. The Cat Empire, The Cat Empire.

2dl2jax.jpg

Self titled album of one hell of an Aussie band. I wasnt too fond of them when I first got them, but they eventually grew on me, and grew on me pretty well. Give them a chance, and you will (maybe) like them! :D

The Chariot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8zXYeeHz0k

5. Ashes Against the Grain, Agalloch.

jijlf8.jpg

After a quick test, search and a link I obtained all of these guys. Theyre a damn good band, and if you havent heard of them, go check em out. I wasnt disappointed, and neither will you.

Not Unlike the Waves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuPz7cMD3qs

6. Since I Left You, The Avalanches.

9t1m3n.jpg

This album is beyond epic. Youve really got to listen to it in one play to really respect it though. Ill give you what I think to be the best section of the album (And the best video!) but its up to you to get it. Really. Its worth it to get it right now. Go.

Frontier Psychiatrist:

7. Mechanical Animals, Marilyn Manson.

[Album cover may be inappropriate for the kiddies, so Ill leave it out, just in case.]

Damn I love this band. Damn I love this album. Damn I love the song Ill give you. Easily my favourite band I found through this forum. Really. Coma Whites always been my favourite of their stuff. So here it is:

Coma White:

8. Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Red Hot Chili Peppers.

2e5jzmc.jpg

I dont care what people say when they deny me saying this is their best. It just is. Once I got out of the stage where I thought their newer stuff was the best and got back to the older stuff, I realised how much better their earlier stuff is.

The Power of Equality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQtLeCoqkd0

9. The Presidents of the United States of America, The Presidents of the United States of America.

11cgson.jpg

(Yeah, I could have shortened that, but nah, Im too awesome for that.) Well, Ive been listening to these guys ever since my mums old boyfriend introduced them to me. Theyve slowly become one of my favourite bands of all time.

Naked and Famous:

10. Welcome to the Monkey House, The Dandy Warhols.

2qxz70i.jpg

One of the many bands my sister introduced to me (And one of the best). I dont know what to say past this, to be perfectly honest. The albums just always spoke (Lulz) to me. Ill give you the song youve probably heard, but its still good, ya know?

We Used to be Friends:

11. St. Elsewhere, Gnarls Barkley.

11qlkht.jpg

Take it back to the old days, when Daxter didnt really like music to the extent I do today. Sitting there complaining at what was on TV, I go channel surfing and find Crazy playing. I loved it from then on. I then found the Smiley Faces single and loved it more. Fast forward a few years, I have the album and most of their stuff.

Smiley Faces:

12. Absolution, Muse.

rtl56t.jpg

How could you get through a list without chucking some GOOD OLD MUSE STUFF in? Absolution is my personal favourite. On the same line as Origin of Symmetry, but just that tiny bit better.

Apocalypse Please:

13. Music for the Jilted Generation, The Prodigy.

2utncrb.jpg

Well, I have to chuck these guys in here somewhere, as theyve been in my library for a very long time. Personally, I think MFTJG is so far ahead of their other stuff. *Waits for flaming*

Narcotic Suite: Three Kilos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4pI9cHpp9A

14. Mesmerize, System of a Down.

29mvdzq.jpg

My personal favourite SOAD album. Just stands out of the crowd for me. Maybe it was the hours on hours of time I spent with Sad Statue stuck in my head, or the times singing other songs really loudly with a bunch of friends. I dont know. Heres Sad Statue.

Sad Statue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqOFZ1jHX0Q

15. Conspiracy of One, The Offspring.

2udv04i.jpg

Ok, I was stuck here for a second. I want no bands with multiple albums, so will I put Conspiracy of One or Smash up? I decided Conspiracy of One. Obviously. Its just a damn good album. No doubt about it.

Vultures: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZPpRIXDxq4

16. Presence, Led Zeppelin.

ocswg.jpg

Ok, Ill admit it here and now. This is largely here due to the fact that Achilles Last Stand is possibly the greatest song Ive ever heard. Not saying the rest of the album is bad or anything, just Achilles Last Stand craps over everything.

Achilles Last Stand: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZPpRIXDxq4

17. De-Loused in the Comatorium, The Mars Volta.

2dmcwfd.jpg

What would a top albums list be without the Mars Volta!? Who would dream of such a thing? This is an awesome album. Though Im not a huge fan of them, (I do have all their studio albums plus some live stuff and some random songs) this is really epic.

Roulette Dares (The Haunt of):

18. Train of Thought, Dream Theater.

2v9vozr.jpg

My favourite Dream Theater album, only just pulling away from Scenes from a Memory (Though my love for that album may have stemmed from the fact that it was the first of their stuff I heard). The stuff here is epic. As I Am? Honour Thy Father? Awesome.

As I Am: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muiNqF_XJJc

19. Committed to a Bright Future, Dog Fashion Disco.

20gb602.jpg

They dont stand anywhere near Polkadot Cadaver, but they do have their highlights. This album is their main one. While I cant say I enjoy 100% of this album, some of the songs on here are just so damn epic.

Magical Band of Fools: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=061cyDzr180

20. Rage Against the Machine, Rage Against the Machine.

4hutmd.jpg

What better way to end my twenty albums then by chucking this one in here? Really, if you havent heard this one, just give up, ok? Its been in nearly all the other album lists and this is no exception. Go get it now and save yourself.

The Mars Volta definitely grows on you. I know that when I first heard it, I hated it, but I gave it a chance and it's all good now.

Since everyone apparently likes the mars volta and posts it in their lists I tried it, it's actually pretty good. Guess I'll listen to some more.

And I think people should take a little more time for a list and do 40+ albums with actual descriptions of what the music is like. But I guess I shouldn't complain because I can't be bothered to do one myself.

Agreed on auto pilot; they're also rereleasing Rated R this year! (Along with their first album)

I saw the Mars volta live at Rock Werchter last year. There weren't alot of people out because it was raining heavily and the singer was being a [bleep] about it. Not a good first impression

Guess I should give them another try though.

The Volta can be hit or miss and a lot of times miss. I know friends of mine that saw them around 2003-04 when De-Loused came out and they were touring with the Chili Peppers and they sucked live. Now, I've seen them twice and they were awesome both times. It just depends on when and where you saw them because if they don't like what is going on at the venue, they're going to suck. But yeah, great list dude. Haven't heard of a good chunk of these albums and I've been looking for new stuff.

As soon as I see it, it's coming to me. Can't wait. As I said earlier, Mars Volta grows on you.
