Hey guys and gals,

 

I've planted 4 herb patches 12 hours ago with super compost. Now that i woke up i wanted to harvest them but it seems that they didnt grow at all.

They are not deseased, anyone knows what could have caused this ?

Well, the times for any farming product is merely averaged speculation; hardly accurate and these cases happen. But...none of them grew? Looks like a bad bug or a roll-back.

That's quite peculiar. Unfortunately I can't offer any help as I've never experienced this before - the only tip I can give you is to wait it out, perhaps they'll grow shortly.

They seem to be growing now o.0

Jagex rolled back some acounts, perhaps your account got rolled back to right after you planted the seeds, that might explain it.

I had a similar issue recently, my herbs werent growing up after only 5 hours though, i sent in a bug report and when i logged back in they had grown up the following day.

There are actually two explanations for this.

 

First, there IS a bug where herbs do not grow. If this is the case, tough luck, but at least it's a rare bug

 

Second, whenever you log in from the lobby (or log in directly if you're using an unsigned applet), the herb's substage growth RESETS. The growth of farming plants can be broken down to "stages". There are the visable signs, for example your herb just looking bigger. However, in between these stages are a number of "substages". I can't pinpoint exactly how many there are, but each one only lasts one or two minutes. If you log in before the substage is completed, the growth of the substage will RESET. This is the reason why when you world hop, your herbs grow slower. So if you were doing world hopping or something else where you were logging in and out a lot, it can greatly slow down the growth time of your herbs. Otherwise, it is a bug.

 

A little hard to believe, I know, but from experiments I've done this is the best theory that explains why this occurs. There's no concrete evidence since Jagex is never going to give up the game mechanisms, but it's a working explanation.

I see no reason why not. In fact, I'm almost sure brewing shares the same system. I've only documented and studied herbs/farming to the extent where I can say it's a 100% explanation, though.
