Featured Replies

never used these parts of the forums but i have a toshiba satelllite a505 and i run it outside with humidity and such and some times it gets kinda hot (no really) i was wondering if there is a way i can moniter my computers

usage and temperature

but mainly temperature

so if anyone could tell me how to tell the temperature of the laptop that would be great (its only a few months old so i think it has the software to do it)

Unless it has temperature sensors built in you cannot.

I don;t think laptops really have them built in, its more of a desktop feature and even then 9/10 its by buying and putting in your own temperature probes.

You can use software to get access to your temperature nodes in your computer components. With most computers, you can easilty get the CPU temp, NB Temp, and GPU temp without issue. You can also buy small wired temperature probes to get ambient temperatures in your case.

HWMonitor, simply the best program when it comes to temps. It's also the first program to get the right numbers on my laptop.

I have it on my laptop and both my desktops and it works very well.

There's nothing differing a laptop cpu vs a desktop cpu in reading tempratures.

Intel and AMD doesn't disclose everything, so the tempratures are never 100% accurate (but more or less).

Personally i use coretemp, which has already been posted.
