Killing Nomad

I'm hoping for some help before fighting Nomad. Specifically:

Defender/Dfs/Unholy book, which would be best for the shield slot?

Which weapon should I take for special, I have sgs and ds or should I borrow bgs/d claws?

Diamond bolts (e) or ruby (e) for ranging?

Should I be ranging as my primary attack or only when frozen? If it's my primary attack then should I use void instead of karils? If it's not then should I use whip or sgs?

I see kyatt pouches are recommended after I use all of my beat of burden, why? Surely there are better fighting familliars.

Can someone please help?

Well, i can tell you what i did.

First off, do not use barrows, the cost of it breaking each time will add up and its very annoying.

I used black d'hide and ruby (e) bolts the whole fight, with a terror bird filled with sara's and super rest's.

The spirit kyatt's scroll allows him to attack your opponent and deal triple damage.

Hope that helps.

First off, I'd recommend that you use a shield only if you intend to use a one handed melee weapon, with which you should look nowhere else other than chaotic weapons.

As for special attacks, I went for a potentially faster kill with claws, but from what I remembered they sped up the kill slightly. And as for ranged, the use of it is not really necessary,

but it really helps if you are frozen and wish to get a few hits in. Personally when I went for my kill I went purely with melee, and that said I used only black hide; Barrows is not worth

the risk if you end up risking a death, which the repair cost will add up.

As for familiars, I'd recommend that you use a tortoise to carry additional brews along with a kyatt pouch if you want to. I happen to have the link to a guide for Nomad from RSOF,

and it happened to be the one I used for Nomad, you might want to take a look. Good luck. ;)

You bring an unholy book for accuracy + prayer (useful) or a bss for defence + prayer (also useful but only at the berserker stage with low defence). You don't bring a defender unless you melee.

As for range vs. melee, you can do both, but I wouln't recommend melee if you do not have at least 90 attack and strength. For ranging, I'd say at least 80 range. It can be done at way lower levels of course.

On the kyatt: there used to be a bug where Nomad stopped attacking after being hit by a kyatt scroll. That bug has been fixed, but a kyatt's ambush scrolls hit up to 300, which is only improved at much higher summoning levels with the geyser, iron and steel titans. Don't forget scroll whichever you choose.
