Who would you vote for: A real topic!

Ok, since there is not an election in the US right now, lets not talk about presidents, but instead, Prime Ministers.

The election to see who is PM of Canada is on the 23rd of Jan., and so far, it seems no ones listening!

I usaly seens tons and tons of signs up when there is an election, and all the adults talk about it, but the sad thing is, my civics class is paying more attention to the election then adults (WE only like 15-16, so we cant vote).

In the class we have to chose one of three parties (Liberals, Conservitives, and NDP), and track where they go, and what they talk about. Its gonna be our culminating task!

Well what? what about you other canadians on the boards, what do you think about the election?

Liberals FTW!

I vote George W. Bush.

But seriously, I would vote Stephen Harper probably (Conservative), much of what he says I agree with. Second would be Jack Layton (Democrat). Liberals seem to me to be so weak and indecisive, it angers me. Whereas the Conservatives have many better ideas and are prepared to act on them. And I'm not even rich, so that means something more.

Ah, the Canadian election. I've been so busy with school and work, I haven't even thought about threading it on tip it! Thanks for the topic!

I'm going with the Conservatives on this one. Canadian politics however, are letting me down. Will we ever get out of this minority government stronghold? It's either a Conservative or Liberal minority, guaranteed. NDP sound good, but they just have no basis on how they plan to get things done. Simply spending billions of our money will get things done, true, but we'll be broke at the end of the term.

Liberals are a disgrace. How can you still vote Liberal after what they've done? Moron Canadians stuck to their ethics will vote Liberal even if a dog was running, and in all seriousness, it's true. Liberals can do anything they want, and still get re elected. Canadian politics are simply garbage.

As for the Conservatives, I've been pro-"PC" for a while. However, Harper is also a moron. He sounds/looks like such a fool up there, which deters many Canadians from voting for him. He's just not a bright guy. I believe if the Conservatives had a stronger leader, they would get much farther in the race.

I'm currently working in my local M.P.P's office (Laurel Broten - Liberal) and a lot of what they're doing seems good. However, thats merely at the provincial level. For the federal election, my vote would go to the Conservatives. As I'm under legal voting age, I'm simply getting older friends who weren't voting anyways, to put in a Conservative vote for me

Dang the opposition for forcing the election less than three months before I can vote. Who would I vote for? Either Liberal or NDP. I already knew what I believed in before I found out what the parties stood for way back, and I was suprised to find that the Conservatives are polar opposites to me on almost every issue. There is just no way I will ever vote for them, despite how naughty some Liberals have been.

i dont know what this NDP thing is, but are these the only three choices? do you have any independants? if i were 6 days older, i could of voted in the last US election. i would have voted for the libertarian party, which a very rough idea is the ethical values of the liberals and the economic values of the conservatives. basically, i vote complete freedom.

There are four major federal parties in Canada. The Liberal party (currently holding the most seats), the Conservative party (2nd), the Bloc Quebecois (3rd), and the New Democratic Party (4th). The NDP recieves more votes than the Bloc Quebecois, but because the Block are concetrated in Quebec, they have more seats. There is also a smattering of parties that hold no seats, the biggest of them being the Green party.

NDP: Most left-wing of the four parties.

Bloc Quebecois: left, desires sovereignty for Quebec.

Liberal: Left, but to a lesser extent than the above two.

Conservative: Right

duh :P
