The hits you take depends on the LP you have (or currently have). I've taken 20 damage from falling off the narrow maze but only took 4 damage when I had a fraction of health left. They may have changed that though.... But that quest is a toughie, now go finish out the series! I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001.
