essiw
Hi all, What is a quick way but still profitable way to train mining AND smithing.I know about gold, but is there something else? Because only gold is boring. I want to make a few things clear:I don't want to sell oresI don't want to sell barsI don't want to make cannonballsI don't want to buy ores and bars, i want to mine and melt then myselfedit: I don't want to powermine So what other options do I have besides gold?So far I got:GoldSilver -> boltsSuperheating addy/mithMake junk for MA Thanks in advance P.S.profitable doesn't have to mean I can get much cash from it. http://sign.tip.it/1/2/79/260/essiw.png Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. Zaaps1
Gold, as you mentioned, is perhaps the best option. I see few ways you accomplish this otherwise, without making both processes atrociously slow. Therefore, I recommend either continuing with gold, or powermining then smithing efficiently to make up the difference. EDIT: I suppose you COULD work with silver in the crafting guild, but idk what the speed of that is like. Similarly, if you really dislike your wrists, you could mine and smelt iron. Superheating, of course. ~It's Super Effective! essiw
Thank you zaaps, Well power-mining is something I don't want to do, I dislike it, I have a strong feeling in me that says I need to bank those ores :P But how slow are things like mithril and addy? (if you only look at collecting the coal). edit: hmm silver, I have to look into that. http://sign.tip.it/1/2/79/260/essiw.png Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. Well something you could try is buying the addy/mith (I know you said you'd rather not, but hear me out) and taking a full inventory unnoted with superheat runes to a good place to mine coal, perhaps the Mining Guild (Coal Trucks would not be viable for this method). Drop either 4 or 2 ores (depending on whether it is addy or mith), mine that much coal, superheat, mine, superheat, etc., pick up those ores once you have space, then repeat until you have a full invent of addy/mith bars, then bank and repeat. You'd end up profiting (I believe) and it's not quite as slow as mining everything yourself. ~It's Super Effective! essiw
It seems that silver could be nice, but the only profitable reward I can see are the bolts. I am not sure how good those bolts are? Or are there other products from silver I could use/sell? http://sign.tip.it/1/2/79/260/essiw.png Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. Zaaps1
Could try unstrung symbols. Some people buy them for string amulets but I don't think it's popular at all. ~It's Super Effective! Again, the best you could do is to use the GE. You could sell them (since they are in rather high demand) and buy metal bars for training, or something. Or just make them into tiaras and trade them away via junk trades or general store. ~It's Super Effective! essiw
That is interesting, I could make junk to use for Mobilising Armies. I also dislike junk selling. Hegelstad
Well, what you suggest is grind, what im suggesting is powergrinding, its grind but it takes a lot less time. Aka. more time to do social stuff. That's the way i play Runescape. If you put it this way, you would spend two hours banking gold ores, in one hour, you could've powermined granite for the same amount of exp without the cash. but as cash is no issue in runescape, just farm ranarr or avantoes (if you're not, do so ASAP!) and buy the ore for smithing. This one hour you would save could either go to: A) Irl social stuff or B) Another moneymaker that would earn you more money than banking the ores would. I see myself each and every day that people don't know the word "efficieny". If you want to be pro in RS and have a lif beside it, you have to be efficient. And of course, you can have fun while being efficient. It's just as fun as you make it yourself. You could still chat with people etc. And this is my opinion on the question. (take in note that i havent calculated these xp/hr and cash/hr, so it might not be accurate. However, most other skills are like this.) Thank you for your opinion, although I see it this way:I don't need to be a pro in RS and I don't need money in RS.I want to have fun in RS and I want some feeling that I have accomplished something. That does not include XP. It does include: Items for other skills (bolts for ranging, gold bars for crafting etc.), quests, getting something special/rare.Of coures I want xp and gold, but those are not important. Because why would I grind or merchant just to get bored and quit? The main problem here is that my way of fun is different from most of the runescape players and that I want to find other ways of training one of my favourite skills (smithing). This skill is one of my favourite because I make bars/items, which gives me the feeling that I have accomplished something every time I make a bar/item (especially from mithril/addy and if I could smith it: rune). http://sign.tip.it/1/2/79/260/essiw.png Retired item crew I would like to be credited as essiw at the website update & corrections forum. Aslan
You could stay in the mining guild.Well mine mith/addy in the mine on the other side of the door then mine the coal needed inside and superheat the bars, using the deposit box(from the resource dungeon) or mine the ores from the resource dungeon then mine the coal and superheat the bars.Whatever you choose, have fun.
Bladewing
mine iron while superheating it then make iron dart tips? How to Chin Nechyraels for fast XP and profit
Crimsonsmash
There are 10 coal, 8 mith, and 3 addy rocks on Crandor. Mine all the mith and/or addy and then mine the coal and use it superheat your mith/addy ores while you wait for the mith/addy ores to respawn. Once you inventory is full, bank and repeat; when you've got your desired number of bars you can the smith them into items to the sell or alch. With the current price of nature runes you can make a profit with almost any item you smith this way. I don't know if this fits your "quick" criteria but it certainly fits all the others and if you get bored you can always mix things up by killing a lesser (or mossie) or two.
