October 20, 201015 yr In my very honest opinion, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is quite possibly one of the best and most bizarre 'trilogies' ever written. Have you read the whole series or just one of the books, and did you enjoy it? My favorite bits are the inane statements by pretty much everybody. Even if you can't stand British humor, you'll enjoy it. My paperback copy of the whole series is pretty beat up because I've read the whole thing through three or four times (only other books I've done that on are Harry Potter). So you should read it. And not watch the movie, it's very disappointing. sig by Soa.....tip.it times.....art & mediadeviantart/flickr/last.fm/steam/twitter/tumblr/youtube
October 20, 201015 yr Movie is always disappointing compared to the book. Have to say, the 5th one's a real downer. Recommend for people to just read the first 4. Good set of books, although *very* bizarre. Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.[spoiler=The rest of my sig. Poignant Purple to Lokie's Ravishing Red and Alg's Brilliant Blue.
October 20, 201015 yr Author The fifth one's So Long and Thanks for all the Fish, right? I didn't think it was that depressing, just really random with that Wonko the Sane guy. sig by Soa.....tip.it times.....art & mediadeviantart/flickr/last.fm/steam/twitter/tumblr/youtube
October 21, 201015 yr I enjoyed it, but I can't say that I loved it. "Those who give up their liberty for more security neither deserve liberty nor security." Support transparency... and by extension, freedom and democracy.
October 21, 201015 yr Uh, no, if I recall correctly "So Long and Thanks for all the Fish" is publification of random crap from Douglas Adam's computer after he died. The 5th book is "Mostly Harmless." Depressing. Remember that chick he ended up with at the end of #4? They try to go site-seeing throughout the Galaxy, but she randomly disappears in a Hyperjump. In the first chapter. She doesn't come back, Aruther doesn't go on a long quest to find her, she's just gone. Rather depressing start, and it just doesn't seem to get any better imo. October 22, 201015 yr I didn't care much for Mostly Harmless either, the whole thing with (Spoiler) there being Tricia and Trillian, and the earth exploding was kind of a depressing end. Haven't read the series in a while so I can't remember too much of the key points. I do remember Marvin's "death" was pretty sad though. October 22, 201015 yr Uh, no, if I recall correctly "So Long and Thanks for all the Fish" is publification of random crap from Douglas Adam's computer after he died. You are thinking of The Salmon of Doubt which contains Douglas Adam's starting drafts of the novel The Salmon of Doubt (a standalone story, a Dirk Gently, or a Hitchhikers book at different points in time) and other assorted minor writing he had done. So Long and Thanks for all the Fish is the fourth book with Fenchurch, which overall is the worst book in the series as it goes strongly towards romance as opposed to the largely Satircal/comedic nature of the rest of the book series and what satire it still holds is a very different focus from the rest of the series. The other four Adams books were all very good. And Another Thing... was an okay continuation of the series, though Eoin Colfer seems to have tried covering its differences by bringing back several popular minor characters and introducing a few that don't really make sense why they are in the book besides their popularity in other works(Cthulhu stands out the most).
