Wolpertingers and Efficiency Formula

Should I make wolpertingers as they are half the xp per run due to two seconds and are 3k of secondaries and 5k of shards per pouch. Also what is the efficiency formula to do either option a or b, i remember it was something like (time saved from method a/money saved from b)*(time taken for b/money saved by a) and then youd get like 1,124,300 which is the gp/hr you need to make to make it worthwile.

Thanks,

Nobody's really made an efficiency formula, because, it's hard to put a value on charms.

Because there's so many ways to collect them, they are untradeable, and the price people place on their time vary, and the ability to collect charms varies based on stats.

i meant an efficieny formula in general, like deciding whether to cannon or not to cannon slayer (i know you should, just an example)

and i dunno, wanted best gp/xp and also would it just be worth time time to do them?

well my spreadsheets tell you the gp/xp ignoring the opportunity cost, if that's what you're looking for.

Just be patient since my summoning spreadsheet loads slower than other ones.

I really would prefer not to overthink summoning but if you insist.

I would take a look at a handful of training methods (lets say 2 different training methods).

Pick one. Calculate how much time and money it costs to get a set amount of experience, say 100k xp cuz that's a nice number.

Then I calculate the time and money it costs to get 100k xp with another training method.

lets say training method A takes 1 mil gp and 1 hour

training method B takes 900k and 1.1 hour

Then training method A costs me 100k gp more but saves me 0.1 hours. Therefore if I make over 1 mil gp/hour then training method A is better.

However keep in mind that this is different for summoning, since charms take time to collect.

so for summoning, this really only really sets a bound.

lets say training method A takes 1 mil gp and 1 hour and 3000 charms

training method B takes 900k and 1.1 hour and 3100 charms.

then the breaking point is less than 1 mil gp/hour since charms are valuable, and method B consumes more charms per xp.

lets say training method A takes 1 mil gp and 1 hour and 3100 charms

training method B takes 900k and 1.1 hour and 3o00 charms.

then the breaking point is greater than 1 mil gp/hour, since method A consumes more charms per xp.

At this point, I'd probably decide that it's not worth thinking about it too hard.

Since, unlike other training methods, formulating a precise solution isn't feasible anyways.

ok thanks, i remember seeing something like that and now i think i remember.

ill probably just go for them as its less charms used up for xp, something like 10% more xp per charm which i think is quite a lot

Running the pouches takes so little time that it's always worth it to do the highest pouch you can. Only secondary cost should be a factor in making you make a lower pouch.

efficiency:

the time required to earn money to cover additional cost of using method b over a

vs.

the time saved by doing b instead of a

if the former exceeds the latter, stick with a; conversely, if the latter exceeds the former, choose b.

Efficiency calculator

For summoning, if you give yourself a baseline value to convert charms into gp, you can fit them into the calculations. If you collect 200 crimson charms/hr and you value your income at 2m gp/hr, then 2m gp takes the same time to obtain as 200 charms and you can set them equal to each other for an approximate value of 10,000 gp/charm. Work that into your gp/xp values to find the more efficient option.
