Cave Crawlers nerfed?

I haven't relived a whip drop in 4 task, and I heard my friend hasn't in 15 tasks. Whip drop rates have obviously been nerfed.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

This thread is not about whip drops, it's about cave crawlers.

Aeil was just trying to say how going on a dry streak doesn't mean something is nerfed.

I don't know about any dry streak or not though. I just heard one person say he's had several sources tell him they've been nerfed, and I want to know if it's true or not. I didn't come here for sarcastic replies.

The point of my post was that people have been screaming that whip drop rates have been nerfed for years, it doesn't mean they have been. Jagex has no real reason to change the drop rate of effigies at cave crawlers, they aren't really even a huge outlier, there just the best by ~20%, with several huge drawbacks when compared to the next best dropper.

It is not a stupid question. Considering it costs alot of money there I'm not going to just go without questions after hearing there's a chance it could be nerfed. The drop rate was supposedly around one an hour on average, so if they've truly been nerfed there's a high chance people will realise.

 

Maybe if you spent several million getting each whip you'd understand why I'm asking.

Again, there is no reason for the drop rate to be nerfed. Also, Jagex has stated that they don't change drop rates without noting it in the patch notes (although they aren't known for telling the truth..).

You know, except maybe right after the drop comes out, Jagex probably won't decide "Hey, my sausages were a little cold this morning, so I'm nerfing the droprate on this item."

 

For the record, Jagex could also easily decide that divine and spirit shields cost way too much, and increase the drop rate so they aren't 500m. When in doubt, assume it hasn't been nerfed. Plus they'd probably mention it if they did change it.

Timewise, Cave Crawlers beat out the next few best methods by 50%, not 20% - something that will be nerfed if it hasn't been already. Also, they wouldn't necessarily post it in patch notes because the number of people it affects would be quite tiny. There have been many small changes to the game that have not been mentioned in patch notes since they started posting them, and something like changing one monster that players spend millions on to get effigies would not necessarily be mentioned. Of course, if they changed the drop rate of abyssal whips, that would affect dozens of thousands of players, so that would definitely be in the patch notes.

 

It's hard to prove/disprove a nerf, but those arguments don't make any sense. I also saw rumors about a nerf ingame, on forums, and on TIF, so with the extremely fast effigies cave crawlers give, it's not one of those nerf theories you can just brush off.

 

I don't have an answer for sure, just wanted to point out the 50%/patch notes.

black demons are in my experience an effigy aprox. every hour and 15 minutes vs. cave crawlers ~1 hour. That is ~20%. I think mutated bloodveld are even closer then that, but I haven't killed any.

Unless you can kill 400 black demons an hr then consider yourself currently above the avg drop rate.

 

Mutated velds have roughly the same drop rate as cave crawlers. But take longer to kill due to their hp

 

My initial kill rates were taken from zarfots slayer guide. I am in the process

Of retesting currently. The kill rates available off task for camping. This has changed things around a little
