It takes u to a "quest zone" type area that covers the entire area u use during the quest (the whole zombie tracks and temples)You can go up n down lsdder as much as u like always staying in this safe zone. I can confirmed that this is how you can get to armoured zombies and you can utilise the altar, but do bring a tele as i can't see how to leave it apart from walking all the way back...
