How Jagex is dealing with RWT

What I've always wondered is how jagex determines if its RWT or not. I mean, billions of gold are traded every day, how do they zero in on the people they presume to be cheating? And what if it wasn't actually RWT, but just a friend giving another friend some in game cash?

There's probably certain behavior that sets off red flags, such as giving money to someone not on your FL or in your CC, giving away lots of money multiple times, etc. I'm sure there's no auto-ban criteria, just criteria that zeroes Jagex in so they can take a closer look and judge for themselves on a case-by-case basis. Assuming we can trust what they say, they take this matter very seriously.

Imo, this is way out of hand.

Now I understand that Jagex is a business and whatever and therefore they will do whatever gets them more money, etc. Ok, fine, let's ignore that since it's besides the point here.

When I agreed to the Terms and Conditions when I made my account, I agreed to follow all of Jagex's rules to the letter. I understood that if I did not, I would suffer any punishment Jagex deemed fit. The Terms and Conditions serves as everyone's first and only warning.

There should be none of this, "reset their stats maybe they'll learn" or "take away the items so they'll keep paying for membership". Yes, maybe it's an innocent guy who just made a bad decision. Yes, maybe by resetting, Jagex will get more money. Yes, maybe doing this is better for business and is less harsh on first-time offenders.

Who cares.

You know the rules. You broke them. You get banned.

I think it's remarkably simple and that none of this resetting issue should have arose in the first place.

EDIT: On the more money for Jagex issue, while it is Jagex's duty as a company to make money, it's also their duty as a public company that appeals to mass audiences to maintain their integrity.

As a public company - they only have to watch for one thing: profit.

Appeal is just a means to help them with more profit. More appeal = more people notice = more people play = profit.

It doesn't matter what some people seem to think, Jagex will try to get away with what they can.

If we're just going to complain on forums all day and then play anyways - Jagex isn't affect at all.

For the few that leave, a whole lot more join (I wouldn't doubt that tons of accounts are created daily by botters who just bot then RWT). Either way, if there's people buying into this service then Jagex is doing well as a company.

Plus Jagex claims to be cracking down on bots/RWT/etc as well as multiple glitches in their system - but so far they've never really held up their end of the bargain.

I'm not very happy with the way Jagex has been running things but I sure as well won't quit (at least for the time being).

So, even though I'm dissatisfied at times - I will continue to pay my 7? dollars a month and play this game and enjoy talking to people. At least that part never really changes eh?

Maybe I'm being too idealistic, but imo any company that directly appeals to its customers needs to maintain integrity. Of course, it's not any sort of criteria and it doesn't guarantee greater profit, but I feel like a company is obligated to. It's like dressing nice for a formal event. It's not something that can bring immediate gains (you don't get a trophy at an award ceremony for your tux, for example), but it's your appearance that matters in this case, and it is something you need to stay on top of.

jagex said they are/were planning to utilize item resets, so yeah, i guess this is just confirmation

props to jagex. only thing i want them to not do is remove discontinueds in item resets, at least put them in the party room at a jagex event or something

Which I think discontinueds were removed in the case of Quint. So meh. Then again who knows, maybe they put em in the ge and someone people managed to buy cheap phats or something

For those wondering this was Quint's bank after staking

Quints items were never removed. He made a deal with Jagex, something they do for some of the top bug abusers. Quint leaked every possible way to do the healing glitch at duel arena, in return for no one who abused it being banned. So there's still those rares on the market, and none of them have been wiped.

Oh? How'd you find this cause I was told about 9b got deleted by a good source

And why the hell can't they fix this damn SOL bug cause I've wanted to keep dds staking for a while now -.-

Started free trade with 1.5m cash. 2 weeks later, have hit max cash 2x.

PvP drops: 359 Brawling Gloves, 11 Vesta's Longswords, 41+ Zaros/Ancient Statues

9 Dragon Full Helms, 3 Dragonfire Shields on the old PvP loot system

Brawler guide is being finished!

I was told by Champ, Svew, and Super Bowser, like, the top glitchers. They all have their little clique where they all share the latest glitches. I live about 20 minutes from Super Bowser. Sucker can make a good Beef Stroganoff.

They figure this way there's less duplicate accounts made overall.

What good would that do though..

Once you have the taboo of Jagex resetting you, I'd think people'd want to start fresh to have no eyes of suspicion upon them.

However:

Your account gets banned you start again. Tell friends oh jagex banned me for no good reasons blah blah; things carry on.

Your account gets reset, you start a new one. Tell friends that lie; they can see ur old account is still there and see it had stat resets and thus know that you rwted or botted. Might make me treat ya differently eg no aww here have 2mil to get ya started more no friendsness

You would stop being friends with someone because they botted/RWTed?

Yes and so would most people I talk to in-game.

Some rules aren't meant to be broken, ever.
