Everything Dungeoneering

Cheat

Recommended Posts

So basically I got bored of RS about 1 - 1 and a half years ago and I missed out on the start on dungeoneering which means I didn't really see the skill develop and therefore I understand very little about it. So I would like some information about it, please! I have a few specific questions but really anything would be nice to know. I've looked at the tip.it guide and been a few times myself but still only have a very basic knowledge of the skill.

So here goes with the questions:

- How do I train it effectively, what complexity at which different stages, when do I reset - literally what do I do. Should I solo or go in a group if so are good groups easy to find/will I ever find one that will take someone on with 11 dungeroneering :) ?

- What is keying?

- What is the concept of rushing? What is the other way to do a dungeon?

- How fast is this skill to level if I were to say go for level 85 how long would this take?

- While training dungeoneering what sort of xp would I expect to gain in other skills?

- About how much time at once would I need to be able to play to really get the best out of dungeoneering?

- Are there skills I should really train before being able to DG effectively?

Some of these questions might be slightly odd or incorrect in some of their assumptions please don't treat me like an idiot I just don't really understand the skill. Anything more that you think is important please share. Thanks for your help.

~ With the recent updates - I'm not exactly sure what the most efficent way would be (I got 99 quite some time ago)

- What is keying?

~ Keying means taking all the keys on the ground - and opening the relating doors. Usually there is a designated "keyer" each floor that will do this.

- What is the concept of rushing? What is the other way to do a dungeon?

~ Rushing is going through as fast as possible - while still opening all the doors.. In rushes - you shouldn't be making armour and potions, etc..

The other option is to do it however you want.. theres not really just 1 "other way" because in dungeoneering you can do so much.

- How fast is this skill to level if I were to say go for level 85 how long would this take?

~ Dungeoneering is really slow at first - and at higher levels it becomes insanely fast. I'm not exactly sure how long it would take to get 85 - It would depend on how much time you have, if you solo, etc.

- While training dungeoneering what sort of xp would I expect to gain in other skills?

~ Usually very little - unless the recent update has changed this. However, when clearing guardian doors and what not, you should get a nice amount of cmbt xp per dungeon.

- About how much time at once would I need to be able to play to really get the best out of dungeoneering?

~ Not really sure what your asking here? If your asking how long a good dungeon takes - It depends on if your soloing, what complex, etc.

- Are there skills I should really train before being able to DG effectively?

~ I'd say decent cmbt stats (including prayer) - and maybe a good fishing/cooking level

If your rushing - all you need is good combats, food, and prayer

Hope these answers helped.

Yes they were quite useful thankyou. Just a few things; You said dungeoneering is very slow to train at first and then becomes very fast, what sort of level does it become very fast? I have also hear soloing is much slower than in a team is this true at all levels/how true is this? How much slower is soloing?

Solo is many times slower. And you start reaping good XP past level 90 DG.

Whats the xp like before then in the mid-levels ? Painful (agility style)? Or more copable with?

Its actually not as bad, assuming you get in good dungeons, be sure to use dg sweepers cc, and you'll get to your goal in no time.

Yeah, getting to ~50ish dg took me months. Since then I've started running with DGS and I average about 40k per floor which at my level (72) equates to just over two floors per level. I've found soloing to be as dull as training agility, but doing dg in a team is actually not too bad. I really only run about 3 or 4 hours a week and I still manage decent xp gains. Good luck!

- You should c6 solo small/c6 duo med up to 50 dg and then alternate solo/duo with w117 up to until 75, at which point you can do enough floors with DGS alone. I know the teams on w117 are terrible, but well, so are you at first.

- The keyer is the general of the team, they will open key doors, direct the team to gd's/skill doors and ask for certain places to be gated/certain things to be made. You should ALWAYS do what the keyer tells you to unless you know better, which you won't for the first 90-110 levels.

- Rushing is completing the dungeon with least amount of effort. There is no particular opposite of rushing, as rushing, most or majority of the time is the norm for dungeons(you don't mention the team is rushing, but you would have to mention if you aren't rushing).

- As said previously, the skill is quite slow to train at first but gets much faster with higher levels and better teams(for which you need higher levels). The amount of time is strictly personal for each person.

- You can get a decent amount of strength xp, but that's about it. The other xp does add up, but certainly isn't fast. If you choose so, you can train some skills while getting your c1's done(there is a link to a guide about this in my sig)

- You'll always need to prepare atleast 80 minutes for a w117 dungeon and 40 minutes for dgs dungeon, but other than that, c6 solos take around 8-12 minutes each.

- You should have atleast 45 defense and the highest attack level you can(for best 2h), but other than that, a low total level is a major advantage when you are starting out as a dungeoneer.

Hope the answers help.

As far as XP goes. I got from 1 to 81 in about 2 weeks. (only used 10 peng points, got most of my xp in w117) Granted there were a couple of weekends when I played like 4-6 hrs.

I'd say that DNG gets faster at around 70-75, the first 50 lvls are just grinding and out right painful.

Keep an eye on DG Sweepers chat after you get over 70, sometimes they do low floors and you can expect to get 2-4x the xp that you would get in w117.

Read through the DNG guide in AOW, it'll help you a lot. Make sure you take time to learn the basics, the thing that pissed me off the most was that ppl even in lvl 80+ didn't know how and why to gate doors and that it really isn't a great idea to make a full set of armour or bring along a worldbearer or whatever.

So in essence: Learn the basics, do your first ~70% of floors on c1 or c2(fishing) and last 30% do in large or med if possible, grind through the low lvls and once you get to dnging with DG Sweepers it's all smooth sailing.
