Regarding the launching date of RS and the flames i've gotten from the text in my sig about it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ok, as you all must have seen tons of posts about how ppl say they've been playing for this and this longs (varies from 6 to 10 years, yes i've seen someone saying he has played 10 years).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Some ppl get the urge to post me PM's about it every now and then and here's the posts i've gotten.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

First was Killimataro, he started out very formally but then things got cleared along the way.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

FYI rs has been out for more than 4 years. i played it for a long time and if u ask jagex they will say that they made rs in 1999. just so you know!

The beta is not in that, but the official launch day of rs. this has been verified many times from players who have started at that month or the following so there's no need to say that it's not correct. if you mean beta, that i don't know when it was launched but rs was launched at the date said in my sig.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

i saw it when i was in 6th grade, i had it on my comp - im in 11th now, so its been out for over 5 yearsr :wink: just not known.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Well, as i know it the beta was around before the official launch so u might have had that. i don't know how they selected the beta testers. There is a thread about it somewhere on p2p general when rs was launched and in that as on other threads before that many veterans said the official launch was january 2001, i wouldn't know since i joined september 2001. one of those was trixstar who started on feb 2001.

I think Mod Ben may of made a typo and meant to put December 2000 instead of 2001 on that. I started playing May 2001 and friends told me about this game who had started when it was released as a final version January 2001.

Although slightly off topic, Andrew Gower created the first version of "Runescape" back in 1998 under the name of "DeviousMUD" (Multiplayer Dungeon/Dimension or Domain).

I started in February 2001. I remember no friends list (and not even Falador, I believe), so I'm sure it was newly released. There was one web server, and everytime you opened the game, you had to web-load the serve, which was a pain because everyone had 56k.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I'm sure if I stuck with it I could be one of those level 120s but.. I found it a waste of time and quit :wink:

Yup, Runescape began January 2001. I started early 2002 when a friend told me about this game. If they had never mentioned it, these last few years of my life would be very different. Imagine the difference that a few small words can make. Would my years be better if I hadn't started playing this? Who can say. I'd probably just have spent my time playing something else.

Valaraz being right here. Jan 01 is correct. Deviousmud was launched before that, but it wasn't Runescape (if it even was public)

Apparently it inglicts some kind of flame urge on them when they want to debate about it. Just wanted to share them to the community and see what you guys think, surprised of the lack of the flames though.
