Punc
You make a new image with a transparent background, then copy your image in it as a new layer, then delete whatever you want to be transparent with the help of the magic wand tool and save as gif. (or so it works in photoshop 7.0)

dogtag_dez
When you've got your image, with all the transparency done, go to file>save for web, you can save as gif or png but make sure the little transparency box is ticked. :P

Mercifull
If you are talking like my SIG.... save as a .png *you can have shadows and blended images you can have those i gif also??? o well, i guess its just a preference thing GIF and PNG transparency is much different. GIF and PNG-8 transparency is only on/off. As in you cant use anti-aliasing or you get a "halo" around the text or image. PNG-24 uses alpha layer transparency which means you can use full shadows and fading into full transparency with no halo Good site explaining: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bobosola/pngtest.htm Nore that Internet expolorer does not currently support PNG-24 alpha transparency Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape.
