So i'm at turoths currently and i count 13 bots here.... How has the bot situation gotten so damn out of control? When i used to play 4 years ago it was rare to see a bot... Does Jagex not give a damn anymore?

Overtime bots become more and more advanced. It may seem obvious to you, but to the computer system that catches them, most of them look like regular players.

That is the problem in a nut shell.

 

Bots are so advanced that its very difficult for a computer algorithm to differentiate them from a normal player without a couple of months worth of data (start to see click patterns repeating etc), despite the fact a human can fairly easily tell the difference.

 

And quite frankly you can't hire a mass of people just to bot ban, it'd be a ridiculous job that very few would want and it'd drain resources; the better route is chasing down the bot creators and sueing them and getting the sites shut down, which jagex does have some success in doing. Of course the issue is given a month or two and the loose e-law's of certain countries bot makers can easily comeback AND the bots can remain out there virally on various sites without their original source.

There's probably still the same ratio of bots:humans, but there are a lot more people playing now than before.
