The new update is gonna make changes to the whip.

Is it worth buying some for 2m and selling later or is 2m about the peak price?

I know without knowing the actually update it will be hard to tell, any guesses?

I can see there being a jump on the release day of the update. I don't think the rise is going to be astronomical because of the sheer amount of whips in the game and the fairly high requirements of the update. I would see how they fair tomorrow and maybe the next day as well if they continue to rise it may be worth buying them now for that release day hype. A nasty tip (in my opinion it's basically scamming) is finding someone who hasn't read the BTS and offering them a large amount for their whip it's amazing how many people are clueless about upcoming updates and think they've just hit the jack pot when you offer to buy their whip for 1.5m.

If the person is too dumb to check the main page of the RS website and is more than willing to sell their item for an agreed upon price, I don't see it as scamming in any way.

I'm guessing the whips with the attatchment will be untradeable and have stats similar to that of the chaotic rapier (req 80 dg vs 80 slayer). Meaning the price should settle to just around where it was within weeks after the update.

Why are people predicting the whip attatchment to be untradeable? As far as I know, none of the drops that come from a monster that requires a slayer level to kill have been untradeable so far. Why would they change it for this one item? Also, if it is the monster that requires level 91 slayer to kill that drops it, why would it have a requirement of only 80 slayer to attatch it to a whip if it is going to be untradeable? Why not just make the requirement to attatch it 91 slayer if that's what you'll need to get it as a drop.

do you think this attachment will phase out the rapier cause if it does that would suck. i dont see jagex making the whip spec too good though.

I'd imagine it will be like the Robin Hood hats with the loyalty program. They will spike way up, then drop quick. At least thats what I saw the Robins do. If you can be on when the update happens, give it a go.

I bet a lot of people have downloaded the Runescape Client and skip the main page altogether. I use the client, but I always check the main page for updates.

 

 

I'd wait on buying whips at the moment if you are just going to use it for combat. Their price is fluctuating too much that you might lose some (or might gain some, depending on how the market shifts)
