DegenerateX
Alright I just started playing 3 days ago. I am F2P. I have focused solely on mining and smything for now and am currently making steel bars and selling them. I only have a total of 10k coin in bank. I Some questions I have are: 1. I keep hearing things about poutches that let me hold a lot more stuff in my inventory. Do they do waht I said above? Where can I get/make them? How can I make them? How much can I buy them for. 2. Should I get my strength up and go Pking to make money? Right now I only have 16 strength, 16 defence, and 11 Power. 3. When smithying with steel what will give me the most XP per bar needed to make that. Its impossible to sell steel weapons because many people have them so I usualy just sell them at the general store. Thus I have decided just to make the weapon which would give me the most XP. 4. How can I teleport? What items are needed? 5. Why did my blurite sword not disapear when I died the first time but did when I died the second time? 6. Where is the best place for mining coal. Right now im using the dwarfen mines but I keep on getting attacked by scorpions and having to run away (could fix this if i start training) 7.What is rune essence mining and where can I mine it. Is there anything Ihave to do like a quest? 8.Should I stick to smything or try crafting? 9. I can never sell my stuff. Sometimes its good stuff but people still wont buy. Am I selling in the wrong place? I usualy sell in the varrock bank because if people did want something they could just get gold out of their bank account or get items I want. Thankyou for your help. I am esecialy curious about the pouthces as it would allow me to mine a lot more ore in one trip. Sorry if some of these are nooby questions but most players in the game are too lazy to help me and tell me to F*** off. BTW how can I get a siggy with my stats on it? Looking for someone to teach me how to Armadyl farm - pm me10,200th Person to Achieve 99 Magic on 1/10/
Eeeeediot
Welcome to the game and the Tip.It Forums :) Can I suggest you have a quick look over the rules so you're accquainted with them: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=480329 Also, I recommend reading the descriptions for each board on the forum index so you know the correct place to post. Questions should go to the Help and Advice board :) As for your questions, you can find a lot of answers by using the main fan site of this board: http://www.tip.it/runescape/ Either use the easy navigation or the search box on the right - theres a lot of info that will help you on your way. Especially the beginner's guide! One final tip is to try and use the forum search located at the top of every page as part of your reseach :D Good luck. Blipo
Hi, I'm Blipo. The following is a quote of you. My comments are in bold. Those pouches are members only, sorry - and they let you carry extra rune essence (used in runecrafting). 2. Should I get my strength up and go Pking to make money? Right now I only have 16 strength, 16 defence, and 11 Power. PKing is a bad way to make money, at least in the lower levels. wait until you're at least level 50, and can wield/wear rune. 3. When smithying with steel what will give me the most XP per bar needed to make that. Its impossible to sell steel weapons because many people have them so I usualy just sell them at the general store. Thus I have decided just to make the weapon which would give me the most XP. No idea, but I recommend you make and save steel plates. You can high alchemy them for a nice profit. 4. How can I teleport? What items are needed? Check the list that has all the magic spells. You can teleport to different places at different magic levels. Generally, you need 1 law rune and 3 of a certain elemental rune (Varrock teleport requires fire runes, for example). 5. Why did my blurite sword not disapear when I died the first time but did when I died the second time? The top 3 rule. When you die, you only keep the three most valuable items in your inventory. Value is determined by the price your item sells for at the general store. 6. Where is the best place for mining coal. Right now im using the dwarfen mines but I keep on getting attacked by scorpions and having to run away (could fix this if i start training) Dwarven mines are the best, that I know of, unless you become a member and use the coal trucks. 7.What is rune essence mining and where can I mine it. Is there anything Ihave to do like a quest? You have to do the simple, if long, Rune Mysteries quest. Then you can mine rune essence (commonly referred to as rune ess). 8.Should I stick to smything or try crafting? Depends on you. I actually recommend woodcutting. Once you get to level 30, start cutting oaks (yes, I know the requirement is only level 15, but it's too slow until your level is higher up.). Move on to willows at lvl 40, and yews at 65. Great money. 9. I can never sell my stuff. Sometimes its good stuff but people still wont buy. Am I selling in the wrong place? I usualy sell in the varrock bank because if people did want something they could just get gold out of their bank account or get items I want. What seems good to you probably isn't good to a lot of the high-level people. And the high-level people are the ones with all the cash, so it's best you find something that they want. That's why logs are a good product (for fletching). Ask someone to make one for you, although most people require a large sum of RS money for this service. I can make you a really crappy one for free, if you want ;) Just a note: I'm a part of the Order of Cabbage (the OoC). We are the most awsome cult in RuneScape (yes, we're a cult), but there are a few people out there claiming to be with us who realy arn't. So if someone's sig says they're part of the OoC, but they act like an idiot, they probably arn't. [/personal anti-recruit war] ~Blipo
Raichase
1. I keep hearing things about poutches that let me hold a lot more stuff in my inventory. Do they do waht I said above? Where can I get/make them? How can I make them? How much can I buy them for. Pouches are for rune essence, which is used for rune crafting. The pouches themselves are members only, and non-tradable. 2. Should I get my strength up and go Pking to make money? Right now I only have 16 strength, 16 defence, and 11 Power. Personally, I prefer getting money via skills, as it's a lot harder to get set back in (ie if you die while pking and can't revoer your stuff, then you're down Xgp). 3. When smithying with steel what will give me the most XP per bar needed to make that. Its impossible to sell steel weapons because many people have them so I usualy just sell them at the general store. Thus I have decided just to make the weapon which would give me the most XP Whenever you make something out of steel, you get the same experience. Making 5 daggers will give you the same amount of exp as a steel plate mail. However, money wise, the best bet per bar is the short sword, then the two handed sword and plate mail armour. Thats gp/bar. For bronze (for example) short swords will net you 15gp per bar, and thats the best possible until 2h Sword (16gp per bar used), Plate Legs/Skirt (16gp per bar used) and the plate mail (19.2gp per bar used). It's the same for all the other metals. Also, when selling your wares, I always sell my smithed products to their respective speciality store, as they pay more for an item than the general store. In varrock, sell your swords to the sword shop (south of the general store). Helms go to Barbarian Village to be sold, etc. Use tip.it's map to find the nearest store of your chosen product. Plus, if the store already has 50 steel short swords, they will pay less for yours than if the store has 5. So, if you notice the store has a lot of stock already, throw it in your bank and try again later. 4. How can I teleport? What items are needed? You need runes, and the appropriate magic level. Teleporting is a lvl 25+ skill. Law runes are the most important rune needed. 5. Why did my blurite sword not disapear when I died the first time but did when I died the second time? Unless you have a skull over your head, you keep your 3 most expensive items when you die. Stackables count as one object (ie you die with 3 iron ores and 500gp, you'll keep 3 iron ores, as they are worth more than 1gp). 6. Where is the best place for mining coal. Right now im using the dwarfen mines but I keep on getting attacked by scorpions and having to run away (could fix this if i start training) Yes, get your level up and work there, the scorps keep the low level powerminering automatic players away. Another option is skellie mine in the low level wilderness (again, grab a map) 7.What is rune essence mining and where can I mine it. Is there anything Ihave to do like a quest? Search tip.it for "Rune Mysteries Quest" 8.Should I stick to smything or try crafting? Smithing is your best bet at this stage. When you can mine and smelt gold, consider making some leather stuff to get your crafting up enough to make gold jewlery - it sells for quite a bit to a jewlery store. 9. I can never sell my stuff. Sometimes its good stuff but people still wont buy. Am I selling in the wrong place? I usualy sell in the varrock bank because if people did want something they could just get gold out of their bank account or get items I want. Welcome to runescape. Sometimes, no matter how good something is, you just can't get it, or sell it. Varrock, and other banks are your best bet, but you can also try selling your wares on the forum (have a look down the main page) Welcome to Runescape, ignore the jerks and have some fun. Raichase, quit Runescape. Time issues really, nothing against the game itself. Something had to go, and it happened to be the addictive game that costs money to enjoy :) Best of luck to all of my friends here!
Vape
I believe smithing experience is always the same per bar of one type of metal. Eg. An iron dagger that requires 1 iron bar is 25 exp, a square shield that requires 2 bars is 50 exp, 3 bar stuff is 75 exp, etc. etc. You can find lots of information about smithing exp here and here ;) Where the bloody hell are you? DegenerateX
Just to add on to teleporting. So I just need the runes and i automaticlay get the spell. Is there anything else I need? Wheres a good place to train magic? Should I start mining rune essence or continue making steel? What lvl can i wield myth or addy pickaxe im using steel right now? What can gold rings and necklaces do? I noticed theres a slot in the weapons slots so do they give bonus'? Should I sell the gold or make jewelery can sell it? Where can I start leveling up magic. The teleporting sounds like it can save me if im about to die. DegenerateX
And how do I use this high alchemy that turns my weps into gold? is it members only? If a friend drops one of those pouches can i pick it up? Vape
You need to have a sufficient magic level to be able to cast spells. For example, to teleport to varrock requires lvl 25 magic, and levelling up magic costs a considerable amount of money. Please read the tip.it guides before asking any more questions here. For magic (teleporting, high alchelmy etc.) see the magic guide. For information on amulets - see the crafting guide, and for pickaxe mining lvl requirements, see the mining guide. Blipo
Just to add on to teleporting. So I just need the runes and i automaticlay get the spell. Is there anything else I need? Wheres a good place to train magic? Depends on your level. I recommend chickens up until level 15 or so magic. Remember to pick up the feathers! Players will buy them for 5-30gp each! Should I start mining rune essence or continue making steel? Ess mining is a very profitable business, if a bit slow. What lvl can i wield myth or addy pickaxe im using steel right now? Try going here for some comprehensive guides on this stuff. You need to be level 20 ATTACK to wield a mithril pick, and level 30 ATTACK to wield an adamant pickaxe. Also, to use said pickaxes, you need 20/30 MINING levels, respectively, to use them. What can gold rings and necklaces do? I noticed theres a slot in the weapons slots so do they give bonus'? Should I sell the gold or make jewelery can sell it? I'm not really sure about the uses of gold. I think you should sell the ore, though, as the jewelry isn't really good for wearing; only for crafting. It's effective for levelling you smithing, though. Where can I start leveling up magic. The teleporting sounds like it can save me if im about to die. Once again, chickens. And how do I use this high alchemy that turns my weps into gold? is it members only? It might be members only, I don't remember. It's level 50 magic, though, so it'll be awhile before you can use it ;) If a friend drops one of those pouches can i pick it up? No, you can't. It's a members' item. You'd have to be on a members' server to do that. And on a members server, you could just trade the pouch.
DegenerateX
Alright well that answered almost all my questions. High alch and teleport I need a high lvl magic so im screwed there. neogeo0823
ok, here what i reccommend. definately do the rune mysteries quest. it will let you runecraft. this will let you make your own runes for leveling your magic, instead of having to buy them. next, make a whole lot, a lot of alot, in fact, make a ton of mind runes and air runes. now, practice wind strike on chikens and cows, from the other side of a fence so they cant hurt you, and level up your magic high enough to cast fire strike. then save up 1500gp, go to varrock, and buy a fire staff. then you can cast a fire strike with it (because a fire staff gives you unlimited fire runes) to level up your magic. when your not leveling up magic, train your combat skills. get them up as high as possible. dont worry about ranging, because it only becomes cheap to do when you can fletch, which is a members skill. when your not leveling up your combat, level up any other skill you can. practice crafting by making clay bowls, or killing cows for their hide, tanning them and sewing them into leather armor. mine ore to level up your smithing. definately get into fishing. its profitable and lets you catch and cook your own food. speaking of cooking. level that up to. pkers pay big money for cooked lobster and swordfish. and when you can, level up your prayer. do this by burying bones. actually, that all probably sounded a bit complicated, huh? its not that hard. what i would do is take one day at a time and focus on one skill during that day. i fished my way up 44 levels in 5 hours on a day when i was home sick. just be smart about what your doing and try to plan a bit ahead. it pays to to research and the best way to do that, is with tip.it's own fansite located at scenic "www.tip.it/runescape" :) I couldn't care less if he was Andrew Gower himself, I just don't like arrogant smegheads. *in the voice of the comic book guy from the simpsons* best. quote. EVER!
hazardmaster
Hi, welcome to Runescape and tip.it :D 1. Those pouches are member-only, which you have to pay real-life money to get members. They allow you to carry multiple amounts of rune essence, which is used for crafting runes. 2. I wouldn't go PKing until about level 60/70 or so when you can wear and wield rune ;) 3. I don't know. If you're bent on making moeny, sell the steel bars for 500-600gp each bar. And yes, it's basically impossible to sell steel items. The only real weapons/armour which is sold is rune, mithril, and adamant. 4. You need runes to teleport, and a certain magic level. e.g., Varrock Teleport, Level 25 Magic - 1 law rune, 3 air runes, 1 fire rune. 5. That is because when you die you only save the 3 rarest items that you are holding/wearing. The second time you must have had 3 or more items rarer than the blurite sword ;) 6. Yes,t the dwarven mines are probably the best place to mine coal, until you have level 60 mining, then you can get into the Mining Guild. At level 29 combat you will no longer be attacked by the level 14 scorpions. Try to position yourself away from the scorpions don't attack you. 7. Yes, you need to do the quest "Rune Mystries (spelling?) Quest" to mine rune essence. Rune essence, aka "ess", is worth about 30gp each. It's quite a good way to make money during your lower levels. You can mine it in a special ice place where you can go to after you have done the quest. You will eb told how you can get to this place when it is completed. 8. Like blipo said, try woodcutting. Neither crafting nor smithing is actually good for making money. Normal trees to level 20, oak trees to level 40, then willow trees to level 65-70. Oak/normal logs aren't very good for selling but willow logs sell about 30-40gp each, and yews a whopping 250-300 :D 9. Go to World 1/29/3. Good places. What sort of stuff are you selling? It may be good to you, but complete **** to the higher level players. A signature with your stats? http://runeweb.net/sig/7/namehere.png Where it says "namehere" put your username instead. then put and that should put it in your sig. I hope you know your stats will only appear on it if they're in the highscores ;)
