Power Supply Recommendations

My 4 year old Cooler Master PSU (with a 3 year warranty) gave up the ghost a few days ago, and I find myself looking for a replacement. I could use a few recommendations for reliable manufacturers. I might get another Cooler Master or I might try someone else. My old unit was 550W; Id want to get a 550W or 600W to replace it. My main interest is in finding out which manufactures I can trust.

Amazon has a few Diabloteks that are priced extraordinarily nicely, but I dont necessarily trust the reviews they have.

Never ever ever skimp on your power supply. Generic ones fry - I'm not just saying that they do. Diablotek is one of those brands. www.[Censored for time being].com/falconguide has some good advice on PSU's if you scroll to the bottom section. Antec, Corsair, and Seasonic are best.

I wouldn't go for any other brand than these named in the comment I quoted. My preference in there is the Corsair one.

As some here have said, Seasonic, Antec and Corsair are good brands. But there's a few others as well of course: Fractal Design, Enermax, XFX, OCZ. I've probably forgotten a couple, and one should note that some brands might not be available in all countries. Line stability, warranty, fan (size and noise) etc all wary between, but generally good. Next psu i'll get will be a modular one.

Example, 80+ bronze from one of the mentioned brands will service you very nicely during the coming years. It's better to spend a bit, even tho it might seem as a lot right now, it's a good investment that doesn't need changing due to poor quality pieces put in.

Not gonna lie there are better ones out there - the Antec Basiq range is not the best. However that should be fine, I used one non-modular one in a build a while ago and it runs well.

I personally use OCZ. Very reliable so far and the gamer designed ones like Fat4l1ty are good in terms of cords.

I highlighted the keywords in bold and italics.

You and your picky-ness over powersupplies, Acdc... :P

But, that's why I like you. You have an opinion, and you can back it up.

As for the topic...

After further research, although I cannot assure you an opinion from personal experience that

Antec & Corsair would most likely make very reliable power supplies.

As for personal experience.

It turns out the power supply on the computer I mainly run with is a SeaSonic 650W.

It's run without failure for 5 years without any problems, any power issues, nothing. Just, flawless.

That's also from this side of my house, where the wiring is horribly dangerous and fluctuates at random.

So yeah.

I'd have to suggest a SeaSonic PSU.
