Will H
Its because Jagex failsAnd Jagex mocks you for thinking so. Often I wonder if there's a dual personality going on with the player character. You'll get trivial things like this and all your character is in it for is the rewards, but when the consequences get more serious like in While Guthix Sleeps there's more of a sense of personal honour and duty. There's also more of a sense that you are considered equals to other heroes about the land with your credentials and such. I kinda like that, but it does threaten to look a bit inconsistent when they're not relevant. ~ W ~
Crossed_Body
What I was talking about was being an adventerous questing hero, not just a hired hand. Does Batman or Spiderman get paid? I mean they get hot babes all the time which could be considered "getting paid" but they don't charge people when they save them from a fire etc. I just think I'd rather have my player as someone who does stuff cuz he's a good guy, and Jagex's dialouge is not only calling us whiny, but insulting what I want my player to be.But I'm not a questing hero, I'm a wandering mercenary. I kinda like that, but it does threaten to look a bit inconsistent when they're not relevant. And then you get quests where you meet some jack off blacksmith who hasn't heard of you so you have to do trivial crap before the actual questing. I don't know how many quests do this but it's too many. I've destroyed demons threatening the most important city in the world, I've thwarted Mahjarret multiple times, I've stopped a monster uprising countless times and I saved the Cook from getting canned. No respect, no respect. 303/

i_trollz_u
Happens anytime they do player imitations, draynor bank cutscene, new slug quest dung scene, cowkiller guy, ect. Also basically all the troll quests.
Saunamajuri
I like how different our character personality is in different quests. Sometimes he just goes after the money and can't figure out a simple puzzle. Sometimes he helps people out of kindness and can solve ridiculously hard puzzles. Dialogue in this game is very well done, funny and there are some lines that just deserve a highlight, such as the one in my signature. "An Amateur practices until he can get it right. A Professional practices until he can't get it wrong." Quests just keep bringing me back to this game.

I agree that there is great dialouge in Runescape, much of which is funny, but I for one don't like being a clueless idiot. I personally am very close to the quest cape, and I know there are bajillions of people out there more experienced then me and I would hope that that would reflect itself in how my player talks and acts. The money vs. kindness thing isn't as big a deal as you can have tons of experience and still want money, but I dislike the cluelessness sometimes shown by my player. Kaida23
Aceethan, you can respond to multiple posts at once by using the 'MultiQuote' button on the bottom right. There's no need to double post. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P. So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

The Observer
I have found that Jagex likes imitating players or pointing out different player behaviour in the game and using it as comic relief. The draynor bank robbery is a classic example of this. I do have to admit though, it didn't really annoy me too much, but I did notice it a bit more than other dialogues during events/quests. I'm usually not someone to actually read the dialogue because I want to get things done as quickly as possible.

I wasn't insulted per say, I was just surprised at how openly Jagex would mock players and I found the "comic relief" to not be funny.
Aceethan
Just recently finished Love Story, and I was actually NOT surprised to find a bit of player mockery in this quest (don't get me wrong, thought it was a decent quest and very funny). I suppose this stuff is all around us, and I've decided it best to laugh at as much of it as possible instead of being mad at Jagex (although the mockery from the OP will always irk me a little bit).
