mageoftheage2
no this dosent shoot gems... :P you must enchant a gem,set in the cannon and it shoots a magic beam of light max hit is the same between gems(20)but better gems have much better higher accuracy. all gems shatter after 100 shots, and the cannon is damaged but can be repaired at an anvil. uses dwarf cannon -furnace(no detirioration) not a real laser, more of a spell shooter

Toxicologist
And while we are at it, why not just call it a "Phaser Cannon"? Then we could start making Photon Torpedoes, and maybe get some scientific breakthroughs and guess what? The Quantum Torpedo! Would you like Romulan Disruptors too? Why do you resist? mageoftheage2
toxic its a spell shooter - read the whole post your post funny tho
Toxicologist
That is a cover story. You might as well say the Quantum Torpedo is a new kind of Dwarven explosive, and the Romulan Disruptor a new stave that fires magic without runes. A Phaser Cannon is too futuristic for Runescape. And Cannons shooting magical bolts is simply stupid. A machine cannot channel mana energy by itself: it is humans (mages) who channel mana through runes and staves into magical energy. A machine cannot do that, unless a human is there to support it, which then is pointless since which mage would bring a bulky machine around firing magic bolts? A stave would do you better in terms of mobility. And the whole idea sounds stupid... it is only slightly better than the "God Cannons" idea. It is also excessive and overpowered: one gem (they are cheap...), able to shoot a hundred bolts that have high accuracy and damage? Might as well make it a PK weapon and dominate the Wilderness... Why do you resist? My experiments are only helping humanity push the boundaries of the Art of Toxicology... you should be proud to be one of my victims. ~Toxicologist~
kriegstilf
Quite true Toxic. This is a better idea than the "god cannons", but it is still overpowered and too futuristic for a game like RS. At least 1 gem for every two shots, no? Plus the setting up time. . . Nope, wouldn't work. Next idea? Abutebaris modo subjunctivo denuo.
teh_soldier
i completly support this idea.... ..and while were at it lets add 1000000 foot battle robots! and death stars! and pet gods! and nukes to strap on the backs of our cats! as you can see, i am against anything laser based entering runescape
Lord_Muijs
how about a new magic staff that kills everyone in the screen, even in non-wildy, but that u can only use if your RSN begins with 'Lord Muij' and ends with an s? dude, what you suggested is even more stupid. and yes, that is an insult. kriegstilf
*sniffs the air* I do believe I smell oncoming flames. . . Let's just discontinue this discussion. This is an overpowered idea that will hopefully never be implemented. New, from JAGeX: Gem Laser Cannon! FA-WHOOMPH!! Rule the wildy, terrorize training spots! Only 600,000 gps!! Oh please no . . . . hitokage5
Dont remind em of the god cannons, posioned cannonballs... anyway back to the topic, why not give us magic eyes, like heat vision? and then i can see an extentionto tthe god cannons, posioned lasers! mageoftheage2
how about max hit 10? and its for rangers-range attack with a little magic zap and how about onyx's accuracy is 70% & each gem lower has 10% accuracy
Toxicologist
Then it is not overpowered, but still stupid and excessive. If you want excessive stuff, why not make thousands of Giant Pikachus walk around Runescape, which you can't attack and simply fill your screen with its radiance? If that happened, I would run screaming from my computer in fear. I hate Pikachu... Why do you resist? Zonorhc
Gem lasers? Seriously? Are you not aware that a LASER is just light amplified through stimulated emission of radiation (hence the acronym)? Basically, it is an amplified, focused beam of light. What do the facets of cut gemstones do to light? That's right, they scatter it. Scatter =/= focus. Unless you can find some way to refocus the scattered light and then bounce it all around into a single beam again, which is a needless waste of space and mirrors. Ah, but wait. You made a last-second save by saying it's more of a "spell shooter". You mean - wait for it, this is the tricky part - a mage? Who could fling spells around without having to stick a (presumably) enchanted gem into a bloody great cumbersome machine? If you're going to put forward any more suggestions, I would suggest at least a minimum of 800mg of logic and an IQ greater than your shoe size. Your spelling and use of punctuation are terrible. ... And yea, he did attach the Sanctified Promethium Canisters to the Holy Flamer, prayed to the Emperor to lend unto him strength with which to purge heathens, and was so empowered to pull with his finger the Blessed Trigger. And the enemies of the Emperor were smoten with Divine Fire. Lasers produce light of near-monochromaticity (the wavelength of all the photons emitted from the device is very similar) rather than "focussed" light. In actual fact, the very first lasers used rubies as the gain medium. Rubies are what? Gemstones. (you got owned)
gunshafted
you know... this reminds me of a family guy episode: "you couldnt be more wrong timmy, guns are good! in fact, did you know that Jesus and Moses used guns to fend off the romans?" rofl... and even if light was focussed and blah blah... it still wouldnt be very powerful... it might just raise the kalqhite quens lair overall temprature by 3 degrees celcius... enoguh of flaming... yeah, this was a bad idea... but i dont think hes coming back with a counter argument... siggity siggity shwa
Toxicologist
yes, it is true the first lasers were focused with gemstones. I won't go into details about creating a laserbeam, but technically mageoftheage2's suggestion is possible: but it does not fit with Runescape. A magical spell shooter, as I have said before... needs a mage to channel the energy. I don't see any mage preferring a stationary cannon to a stave with a bag-full of runes. And the idea is simply either overpowered, or excessive. It also doesn't sound right to me anyhow. How about a Quantum Torpedo Launcher? Why do you resist?
