August 28, 201114 yr Where's the best places you've found to get a lot of uncut gems? I'm looking for some way I can acquire a lot of uncut gems in a shorter amount of time... without buying them. I've got the stats to do most everything and go to different locations. If there is some slayer monsters that drop a lot, I'm down to kill a bunch of those to collect the gems. Right now, I'm doing the most obvious thing to me, mining gem rocks.. in the Al Kharid Desert dungeoneering resource dungeon mining area. I keep getting a lot of the crappy ones... so I'm looking for other ways to collect. Any suggestions?
August 28, 201114 yr I've noticed fire giants seem to drop a decent amount. I usually get like 20 gems per task from them, with a relatively good frequency of dragonstone. He who wears his morality but as his best garment were better naked... Your daily life is your temple and your religion
August 28, 201114 yr You can pick the locksafe in the thieving den. It gives either gold or an uncut gem (no dragonstones I believe)
August 28, 201114 yr Karamja gloves 3 can teleport you to a gem mine beneath Shilo Village. There is also a gem mine in Shilo Village if you have done the quest. These rocks give anything from opal to diamond for both mines.

On-topic: Lock safes in Rogue's Den are the best consistent source for standard gem stones in my experience; even when you include gem rocks as gem rocks give opal, jade & topaz far more often. August 28, 201114 yr Fire Giants/Dust Devils drop high rates of gems. Dusties also have a better then average drop of crimsons, if you're looking for another reason to camp/slay them.
August 28, 201114 yr Mining shooting stars while wearing a charged Amulet of glory and ring of wealth produces lots of gems. You might want to bring a gem bag if the star location is far from a bank, as depending on your mining level and star size the gems can fill up your inventory.
