Iverson213
I recently bought 2 256mb SDRAM memory upgrade for my computer. So right now i have 3 256mb ones in. When I browse the internet and stuff it works great, but if i try playing a game (call of duty 2) it will freeze about 30 seconds after loading the program. It didnt do this before i put these 2 new SDRAM memory stick things in.. I heard if you put too much memory in that it will make it run odd? I have a Pentium 4 processor (1.8GHz) :( Is that actually too MUCH memory?

Remember, you can never have to much memory  .I don't know how Call Of Duty2 even played before the memory upgrade with 128mb of RAM. I currently am playing Call of Duty2 with more than that. I have 1GB of ram. I have had no issues.
Mercifull
It could be for several reasons... Most likely is that the memory you got from your friend is not the same as the other stick of memory in your computer. Memory also tends to work much more efficiently in pairs than with one extra one. Check the order of the sticks of ram and post exactly what they are here along with the model of computer/motherboard you have and we might be able to tell a bit better what the issue could be Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Iverson213
Alls i know is that it is a VIA pci motherboard my computer brand is "Huge Bee" I have the memory sticks in this order (2) Kingston 256mb PC133 SDRAM (dont know the brand) 256mb PC133 SDRAM I dont know if this is it, but my fan in the back of the computer doesn't spin anymore. Does it freeze because it gets overheated? Because whenever i run a big program it freezes. I even tried re-installing windows.. :wall:
Mercifull
Have you tried taking the new ram sticks out and seeing how it works. Perhaps also keep the kensington ones in and taking out the other stick. Be sure to put them in the right slots if your mobo pairs ram to full effect. Also check all cables inside your computer to make sure you didnt accidently pull some our or loose when you had the case open Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Iverson213
I tried taking them all out and trying each individual one but it makes no difference. I put in the oldest one that came with my computer and it still freezes. I took the case of the computer off and its working alright now. I noticed when i tried turning the computer on, the back fan attempts to start but it doesn't.. I may replace that fan and see what happens. :?:
Kinslayer777
Well...Lets see, you mean the big fan on the back, not the CPU fan? Right? Well, in anycase; yah, if the fans not working try to get a new one. Was the fan working before? If it wasnt, then that might not be the prob. *MIGHT*. But if it was, then thats definetly something you should fix. Fans arent too expensive now 'en days (hell, i dont remember them ever being) and you can probably grab one for 30 bucks. My old computer when i was lil' had a fan that wouldnt work (wayyy too dustyyyyy! I now use compressed air monthly. Works a charm!) and it caused freezes while playing games. The games required more memory, and thus created more heat. If you'd rather not read my bambling paragraph; I say fix the fan first. < Merged your post into the proper topic ~Albosky :) >
jammy316
Can you post all your specs? CoD 2 can run off 256 Ram, and 512 is the best, 512 + is even better.

You can get fans on newegg.com for like $5-$10 plus shipping.
Iverson213
Yeah it's definantly the fan. After takin the side panel off it runs much better. Ill buy a $15 fan and replace the old one, which is most likely the problem. If not, who knows whats wrong..

Mercifull
When you were fitting ure RAM, did by any change you use ure finger to turn the fan or something? Maybe you broke it during the ram upgrade? Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Having a case fan die can cause alot of problems if your computer runs hot. Case fan dies, heat builds up inside the case, causing your RAM or CPU to overheat and start causing errors, which then causes random crashes. Iverson213
ok, i have no idea what to do.. new fan is in, works great and everything STILL crashes i even have the side panel (case of the computer) off AHHH!!   :wall:
wahoo
$10-$15 fans are probably 80mm ones, i'm guessing you spent more money on a 120mm fan. Make sure to buy the right size.
